My tap water smells musty, the condo I live in is only a few years old and I’m not quite sure what is causing the odor. I’ve tried a Brita filter, but the smell persists. I do have a hot water supplied heating system, I’m not sure if that has anything to do with it.

When selecting the water hardness level on my water softner how do I make the water softer? Does it get softer the lower the number is, or is it the other way around? I’ve read the owners manual and it doesn’t specify.
I recently went to the dentist, and since I have braces, they used fluoride varnish instead of regular fluoride, and now I am home and the taste in my mouth from the (rasberry flavored) varnish is still there and tastes very bad. There is talk of banning the sale of bottled water in some places, but is it really all that bad for the environment? They say it’s all about the plastic waste and the impact of transportation on global climate change, but what about bottled soft drinks? Milk in plastic containers? What about the styrofoam that meat is packaged with? It’s a lot worse for the environment than plastic because of the gases ceated during the manufacturing process. It’s hard to think of any product that isn’t wrapped in plactic. What is the big deal about bottled water?

I am currently using a aquatech 30-60 and I notice that my aquarium seems more clean when I don’t use those blue cartridges, when I do use them my filter gets clogged and water gets backed up, I am trying to setup a biological filtration system.
