That is not true. Whoever said that was an idiot. Brita uses a chemical free charcoal filter.
I’ve never heard of that, but I have seen Brita filter pitchers that have molded (inside the pitcher part). Make sure to keep the pitcher clean, and it should be fine.
It is not supposed to do it but it only takes out some of the stuff but leaves in a lot of nasty stuff for your health. See this.
