My refrigerator water has been dispensing very small black specs, it was a very old refirgertor and needed to be replaced anyway. Replace it with a top of the line fridge with a water filter system. still black specs. Not in tap water or any other place. Any ideas? Thank You

Umm you did put the filter in the new fridge right?? (you normaly have to do that.. put in the filter.. they come with a blank usually and the filter has to be put in after, though the filter comes with it its not ususally installed.. none I’ve seen yet anyway)
The black specks.. well I cant explain it if there is a filter in place.. but I can if you forgot to do that, or the installer.. likely you have old iron or galvinised water pipes, and they are just degrading.. pretty normal for older stuff actually, and its just Iron oxide (read rust basically). There are some other explinations as well but dont have enough info… Is it city water or well water for instance?? City water?? You may wanna get the city to check your lines or water quality.. (it could be bugs.. its happened before) same with well water.. check your well.. could be some bio infestation.. but it could also be pipes.. or the pump impellers degrading, or the well casing could be doing a bit of a cave in if its a deep well.
do you have filtration system if so it may be coming from your filter, osmosis system
My best guess is that its not the refrigerator its probably the pipes the dispense the water into the filter system. First check the filter then have the water pipes checked.
You might want to have a plumber check/change the water input line to the fridge, and tap into water supply and see if that eliminates the black specs
