Can I supply a refrigerator water dispenser with Kool-Aid?
the water lone has never been run and this dispenser has never been used.
If its intended to be fed by my plumbing lines which are under pressure, does that mean the kool-aid source needs to be under pressure?
I can hear a water pump pump activate when i press the lever, so i hope my concern isn’t problem.
If the water does need to be under presssure, does this mean the fridge has an internal reservoir?
Ive put a whole 30 seconds thought in to this, lets get it done..
water "line"
not lone

the water pressure could come from gravity so you would need to put a container of koolaid on top of your refrigerator
"Search" the answer when someone else asked if they could attach a beer keg to the dispenser.
Yes, the supply line needs to be under pressure. There isn’t a pump in the refrigerator.
I have often wondered the same thing and thought "boy, would it be nice to have a device that goes on the fridge and mixes the appropriate amount of koolaid into the water as you filled a glass." Maybe have a cartridge filled with dry powder – with a selection of 2 or 3 flavors – that dispense like a soda machine – mixing the appropriate amount of water to drink mix. Can you tell I was really tired of getting up and getting drinks for kids one night?
The "reservoir" is simply what is in the tubing, which is most likely coiled behind the drawers in your fridge – at least that is where mine is. Mine holds about 2 gallons in the tubing and then it runs out and runs to regular faucet water temp. The pressure that it is under is simply the regular water pressure coming into your house. There is no pump, but just a solenoid valve that opens the valve for the water to flow through (per the nice folks at GE, because I had to call them a few times about the water dispenser in my fridge. It used to freeze up, now it just doesn’t work period and they say it needs to have the solenoid valve replaced.)
What a bizarre question.
While the line DOES use the pressure of the water supply,
and you would have to do away with the in-line filter,
Kool-aid would leave a syrupy residue in the internal lines of the waterways in your refrigerator.
You would have to flush them out on a regular basis.
I would recommend mixing your Kool-aid in a pitcher like the rest of us.
I LOVE YOUR QUESTION !!
but don’t do it! I agree with the one guy:
"Kool-aid would leave a syrupy residue in the internal lines"
then you’ll have mold and crap like that – gross
don’t even drink Kool-aid slash flavored sugar water……. it’s
gonna rot your teeth out and its bad for you ………
