Can the salt that is used in a water softener cause skin irration?
I know a water softener is soposed to help make the water nice and soft etc but can it also dry out skin…it is salt so I would think it could make skin itch and hair dry out. Are the salt chemicals(pellets) bad for you especially if the salt also has the rust remover in it?….

I have never heard of a water softener causing skin irritation. I also never heard of a patient with skin issues related to a water softener when I worked in a dermatology office or in the E.R.
I have extremely sensitive skin and my husband and I had water softeners in every house we lived in up north. If anything the water softener was wonderful for my skin! I didn’t even suffer the constant dryness which always plagued my skin prior to marriage (didnt have a water softener growing up). We had rust remover in ours and it still didn’t pose any problems.
