My shower is white (not tile, but something like plastic), and I’ve begun to notice that certain places where water lays for awhile are turning pink. I’ve also noticed this on the inside of my dishwasher (which is off-white plastic), and on the rim of the nozzel of my sprayer at the kitchen sink. What is it in the water that causes this? Is my water still safe to drink?

Yes, I bought them by mistake, assuming the giant bags outside of my Dominicks in the middle of a freezing Chicago winter would BE for that purpose. Could they be??

Hard candy is made from very hot solutions of sugar and water with small amounts of added flavorings. In a typical preparation, the boiling point of the sugar/water mixture reaches 145 degrees C. What mass ratio of sugar (C12H22O11) to water is required to raise the boiling point of a sugar/water solution at 145 degrees C?

I recently moved from the city to a rural area. We have well water, and a water softener, which I’ve never used before. In the middle of the night, the system started gushing water through its drain pipe, into a drain on the floor. Is this normal? Is this something that will happen every time it rains? Why does it do this?

We also have at our sinks and frig a water purifier or reverse osmosis that adds back minerals to the water for better tasting water. Would this be better since there is less salt? We do use Potassium chloride tablets because it is suppose to be better for people with high blood pressure and the like. Please Help!

I’ve seen the ad’s for these electric water softener systems, that just wrap wires around the plumbing, and that is supposed to do the same as "normal" water softener systems. Has anyone tried these electric systems, and do the work? Thanks!

My dog has allergies and he gets distilled water. I save my home’s air conditioner condensate water for the vegetable garden but am wondering if it would be okay to let him drink it. I have no idea what impurities it could contain.

I have gone to two hardware stores and home depot but nothing will fit my Pur water filter. Usually there are adapters in the box that i buy but there were none with the last Pur water filter I purchased. The water filter is useless as I suspect that I need an adapter that is only made by Pur for the newest click on filter adapter.

I have been using tap water that i have let sit for about a week to do water changes with and my fish still die. Am I using the right water or should i not let the tap water sit for a while? Also I use a dechlorifier. What do I do a water change with?
Here are some details, its a 20 gallon tank, i have 2 swordtail (1 male 1 female) and a loach. The pH looked somewhat high about 2 days ago but after using some chemicals it went to about neutral or slightly above. I have an undergravel filter and i try to do weekly water changes. I just wanted to know if it was acceptable to let the water sit for a while and naturally dechlorinate or if it was better to just take tap and use a dechlorifyer. How do you get the temperature to be the same though without using hot water? Thanks.
