Changed Water Filter in Refrigerator But the Water Still Tastes Bad. Why?
I recently replaced the water filter for the in-door water dispenser on my fridge, yet the water still tastes bad. I emptied 5 gallons of water out after changing the filter but the taste only improved slightly. What could be causing the water to taste bad still?
The filter is in the grille at the base of the fridge (push button type). Bleach will run right out if poured in there.
How/where would I find the water lines to flush out?

It depends on what is causing the bad taste in the water, and it depends on what kind of filter you have. Reverse Osmosis is the gold standard in water filtration. It turns scummy nasty salt water into delicious yummy crisp clean drinking water. It also is expensive and requires a lot of electricity. My guess is that you do not have a reverse osmosis filter in your fridge. You probably have a "mechanical filter" which works exactly like a coffee filter: takes chunks out. You might have a charcoal filter which can remove the taste of many chemicals. Neither mechanical filtration nor charcoal filtration will remove minerals from the water and MINERALS are what usually give municipal water that locally characteristic bouquet.
What could help you? A reverse osmosis system upstream from your fridge. These units are available, but of course they are not cheap. On the bright side: you only need to R.O. the amount of water you want to drink: NOT all the water to your washer, shower, and koi pond.
Good luck!
If you can figure out how to run a mixture of 50/50 bleach and water through it, then flush, it may clear it up.
