Dasani Water????
Why are people so up in arms over Dasani Water? When it was first marketed & to this day they said it was just purified water, not spring water, or mineral water. Are people so upset because they themselves neglected to read the bottle or because they were not listening when the commercials were run when the ad said “purified tap water”.
I dont’ think their is dishonesty in thier marketing. I understood from the jump. Yes you can buy a filter & get it from tap but I didn’t want to & they do it for me. It just seems a lot of ppl are upset when all they had to do was read the label and LISTEN to the ad. Going forward they don’t have to buy the product.

I suppose it is because so many people think that because they pay the water companies to have tap water in the first place, usually something around 5 pence per 100 litres (in the UK) to have Dasani purchase the water in bulk from the same water company, for something like 5 pence per 1000 litres, and then sell it for more than it costs for petrol (gas) or diesel (A pound [about $2.07] a litre), seems rather excessive, even with the filters that add cancer causing chemicals to to water.
Now in the UK, they had to remove and replace those filters. I understand they just sent the filters to the US for reuse.
There was a comedy show over here, called "only fools and horses", in which at one point , many years ago, the protagonists decided to bottle Peckam water, which came from the tap, and they tried to get Rich by selling it to the general public. When it came out that they were selling tap water, the public rebelled and they lost their shirts. Most of the episodes ended in them losing their shirts.
So when this big company decided to do the same, (And the main plant in the UK that provided the water was in Peckam as well) the public rebelled, remembering the show Fools and horses I suspect.
At least with Spring Water, the water bottling companies have to pay more for the water, than they do when they get it from the water companies.
Also bare in mind that tap water, at least in Europe, must meet certain standards, and bottled water is usually below those standards. Funny world isn’t it?
i would pay $10.00 for tap water if i was thirsty
I knew there was a difference between dasani and other spring water. I’m not mad at them. But I never drink it if I have the choice, that’s because I realized it TASTES like tap water compared to other brands. Well, now I know why. Water doesn’t always taste like water to me, especially dasani, it’s disgusting and tastes stagnant. It’s also funny how it makes a sound like a soda when you open it as if it’s setzer water or something.
I knew EXACTLY what Dasani meant. This isn’t brand new information – regarding the ACTUAL sources of bottled waters. There have been discussions about the sources of bottled water for ages. So I started checking labels LONG AGO… And you’d be surprised where some of the water we buy is packaged.
That’s why I try to avoid buying Dasani. I think ALL purified & distilled water has a funky flavor. I prefer spring water. But I’ll drink it if I’m dying of thirst & theirs absolutely NOTHING else within walking distance of the office. And did I say dying of thirst thing already?
"Dasani was found to have illegal levels of bromate…..
Bromate is described by the Food Standards Agency as "a chemical that could cause an increased cancer risk as a result of long-term exposure….
The product’s bromate levels were twice the legal limit in the UK…."
because people are morons why would they buy tap water when you can go in your kitchen and get it there. If they dont have something to complain or sue because they were decieved about what would keep this country going in drama lol
The problem is $1.29 for tap water.
I don’t understand why people pay for water of any kind in the first place!
It’s because they finally have to face the fact that they paid
top dollar for the same water that they could have drawn from their own facets for free. Peace.
because people need something to complain about and half of them probably want to try to sue the company now or some shit. People really need to get lives and/or jobs
What would be the purpose of selling what you can gewt out of the tap for free?
Obviously they wanted people to think it was better than out of the faucet, so there is a certain dishonesty in their marketing.
cause people aint happy if they dont have something to b i t c h about
Why pay for tap water? You can buy a filter for you sink
and voila Dasani!
I have drank spring water for the past 15 years. Just this past year, we ended up getting (from the same place Clear Water Systems) pure water … I can taste the difference, but it took a getting used to.
Now Dasani water is the only water, other than Clear Water that I’ll drink.
It’s all fairly healthy, and that’s all I really care about. After going out to the bar, a few nights ago, and since I don’t drink I asked for a bottled water and they didn’t have any, so they gave me a glass of tap water, I got sick … because my body now is so used to Spring or Purified water that all the impurities that’s in tap water my body can’t take.
(we use Spring and Purified water for everything in our home, drinking, cooking, etc)
