Does your dog drink Tap Water, Filtered Water, or Bottle Spring Water?
Just curious. Our dogs were drinking filtered water but now they are just drinking tap water….though they don’t like it. But they are coming around. The filter was so expensive to replace we now get ourselves the bottle water.
My grandfather though when we visit him gives them spring water (bottled) and that is what he gives his dog.
Just curious as to what your dog drinks and why?
My dogs used to drink nothing but filtered water and bottled spring water their whole lives…I even can tell a difference in the taste and the first day they wouldn’t touch the tap water…then they got thristy
I have an issue giving them the tap water (I know what lake it comes from and its a nasty lake I don’t care how much treatment it has) I mean I won’t drink it why should I make them….but my husband says we aren’t going to buy them water….they are dogs

Just tap water. Of if he’s on a walk and there’s a muddy puddle he sometimes drinks some of that until we give him the water we bring on his walks! And even muddy water has no bad effects on him – dogs don’t need anything more than tap water (even I usually drink tap water) so I don’t see any point in giving them filtered or mineral water when it is more expensive and has no extra benefits.
Tap water but we have the really good well water that comes from an underground auqifer.
tap water is just fine. I give that to my dogs
dogs will drink out of the toilet, you can actually tell he doesn’t like it?
I give my dog filtered water because I believe it is healthier for them. All the chemicals in tap water make me a little nervous.
When I lived in California we had tap water, which I wouldn’t drink, and didn’t expect the dogs to either. It was loaded with chemicals, especially chlorine, YUCK! Smelled bad too. They had bottled water, just like we did. We now live in Idaho and have a well. The water is wonderful and the dogs seem to really like it.
depends, in the house they have tap water and when i take them out i normally take a bottle of mineral water and a small bowl for them.
Tap water, though she prefers drinking out of a good muddy puddle…
Tap water, I would only give them filtered water if there was a problem with the tap water.
The tap water is safe for me and I’ve had it tested, it’s also safe for the dogs. Though Taser does prefer his tap water refridgerated.
I give my dog well water. The breeder had well water, and I had lived in the city at the time, so the breeder gave me a couple gallons of well water, and we slowly switched him to city water. And now I live in the country, and he is back on well water. He is perfectly fine on it
Tap water
Tap water
Tap water but filtered through a water softener. Dogs will drink water from a puddle that has sat for days in the sun. They don’t care. If you can drink it, they can too.
Tap water
If I can’t tell the difference between tap water and other water, then I’m pretty sure my dog can’t tell the difference either.
I have owned dogs for many years and have always given them fresh tap water every day. Never had a complaint yet!!
Tap water. My town’s tap water is pretty decent. If I lived in a polluted city with chemicals in the water I would filter it for sure. You could always get one of those Britta filters that hook onto your faucet and filter out the bad stuff. They work pretty well.
tap water, but we have well water so it isn’t like city tap water where it’s bad for us to drink.
we buy large gallon bottles of water and thats what she drinks. she WON’T drink water in the dog park (from the water fountains) so i also have to bring her water when we go on walks.
as to why: i won’t drink tap water so i don’t give it to my dog either.
btw here the gallon bottle of water is $1 / gallon and it lasts 5 days or so which is not a problem in my opinion.
We give our Dog Filtered Water, but we are thinking about getting rid of it and just go with bottled water, our city water is not the best, to me anyway.
tap lol no complaints from them
mine drink tap for the most part but sometimes I will give them filtered water that has been in the fridge though only in the summer time when its really hot outside.. the cold water they don’t seem to like so much so its usually just tap.
We have well water so we give our dogs filtered water. My opinion is would you drink your tap water. I only give my dogs stuff that I would drink or eat. Honestly I know this may sound weird, but their food and bones are so good that I have to keep my daughter out of them because she will eat it.
I give them bottled or filtered but only because they’re small (Shi TZu/maltese mix and yorkie/maltese mix) so a little filtered of bottled water really doesn’t make much difference to me monetarily. h
Ceasar actually (I’m so embarrassed!) prefers the cold water from the toilet…omg
We have water out for him….but he won’t touch it unless the toilet lid is closed…we dont use chemicals in the bowl, and it’s scrubbed daily…so no harm done…its just nasty…lmao
We have good tap water here. I drink it. My dogs drink it. When we are on the road they get tap water from all over. My rule of thumb is pretty much if it looks & smells & tastes OK to me, it’s OK for the dogs. If the water looks & smells & tastes OK to you. Just leave it be. They will drink. Like you said they are coming around.
filtered & spring water. if i give them tap water their stomach will go crazy and you can tell by the stomach noises and stool! some dogs have a very delicate digestive system and depending on their diet and eating habits, changing the water to tap water may affect them as much as changing the food. i prefer to have peace of mind and give them the best possible and tap water is not it.
Tap water. My dogs will drink muddy water out of puddles, tap water is just fine for them. We have a well, btw.
