What I do is open it up and smell it. If it smells like bleach, chlorine, or pool water it is bad. If it doesn’t smell, its fine. My mom had left water in the car in summer all day and still drank it. Nothing happened.
a few days
A few hours, as the bacteria in your backwash will start to multiply in the water.
if you’re afraid it has acquired any dangerous bacteria, boil the water for ten minutes
Surely quite a long time……. Unless uncapped just sitting for airborne dust particles and such to get in it…..Capped never opened I’d say forever….:~)
the rest of your life…
just that day.
Not long. Once you drink from it, bacteria has now gotten in the water. The bacteria won’t hurt you, since it came from you, unless it has a chance to grow and multiply, so it’s ok for a day or two, but I wouldn’t go any longer than that.
