How much do I spend for a water softener for my home?
How much should I invest in a good water softener? Are the 0 ones in home depot worth it? I listened to a sale for a system worth 00. Is it worth it?

2.5 years ago I bought a 30000 grain Whirlpool model from Lowes for under $500 and with a whole-house water filter, piping and fittings it was under $700. It worked fine during the time there were me, my wife, my son, his wife, their infant daughter, and our two teenage daughters. My water hardness is a 25. Imagine the number of showers and washing machine usage. It would regenerate every 3 days and would use a bag of salt every two months.
Now there’s only my wife, youngest daughter and I and it regenerates once a week and only uses a bag every 5 months.
the 700 dollar ones are so worth it thats what i use and have
I am thinking about one for myselve. I’m not sure, for small house 900$ might be fine.
2 grand
I’ve had a water softener in almost every home I’ve owned. I do not recommend the ones by GE or Sears as both seem to stop working when their warranties expire. The repairs were more than replacing them. I now have a Rayne one that cost about $1500, has a lifetime warranty, gets free replacement filters as needed and runs on potassium. It is worth every penney I paid for it too. The pressure relief valve in my garage where the unit is located blew and caused damage to the softener. They came out, replaced the unit and did it under the warranty with no charge to me even though my pressure relief valve is what caused the damage
I purchased a "water boss" from either lowes or home depot for about $450.00. It worked wonders on the house that I lived in in Arizona.
