I think the screen on the intake on my water softener may be plugged. Does anyone have experience with this?
My softener regenerates and I have good water pressure but the water is very hard and rusty. We recently had to move the hot water heater and had the water turned off. When we turned it back on there was a lot of air in the lines and a lot of black water so perhaps the sludge plugged something in the softener. We are on well water. I’m not sure where to start. Any suggestions?

Buy extra screens to replace it or clean it. Keep a journal to keep track on average on how long it takes to clog up. Then you can set your preventative maintence schedule.
Many filters a thin mesh at the water inlet.
