is comparing different brands of spring water to basic for a high school science fair project?
i was going to do a science fair project where i compare 6 different brands of spring water bottles and see if there was a difference in total/ free chlorine, total Alkalinity, total hardness, and pH levels. Is this project idea to simple for a high school science fair?

I have also taught High School Science and judged science fairs. I agree that it is too simple.
If you are interested in water, what specific interest do you have? Taste? Health?
Let’s say it is taste.
You could ask, "Which factors most influence how spring water tastes?”
You could test for each factor as you planned, and correlate them to how people respond to taste-tests.

I would say yes, I think it’s too basic (I’m a former high school science teacher and science fair judge). Depending on the rules, I would recommending doing a project where you have to do an experiment. See what you think of the ideas presented at some of the sites below:
