The pitcher filters are good for about 40 gallons of water. That would last me a lot more than a month. And then you don’t have to worry about the waste of the plastic bottles from the bottled water.
Also, make sure you are getting bottled water, if that is what you buy, that isn’t just out of some municipal tap – just saw an article on that today.
You should consider buying filtered water in jugs and using a water cooler/dispenser. This is the best quality water I’ve ever had. Very recommended.
it can be if you drink alot of water. consider adding lemon or lime to your tap water -it will become more flavorful & healthy this way.
Not only is it cheaper, but there is so much less post consumer waste. I have a brita water filter tank (http://www.airdelights.com/brita-items/35530.html) because the pitchers have to be refilled too often. A Brita filter lasts 3 months (Pur only lasts about 2 and they’re more expensive). Over the course of three months, I see how many empty water bottles my neighbors put out for recycling and that how I know I’ve saved a ton of money and all I have to get rid of is one small filter every three months…no bottles.
You can save on Brita filters by signing up to be on Bed Bath and Beyond’s mailing list and using the 20% off coupons they send you to buy the filters, also they’re cheaper at Costco/Sam’s Club and the larger the pack of them you buy, the less it costs per filter. I get the 10 pack for about $47 dollars, which is $4.70 per filter. That’s four dollars and seventy cents to filter a three months supply of water. Can’t buy a month’s worth of bottled water for that.
