Is there a reason to boil distilled water? How pure is it when it sits in a plastic jug?
We have humidified oxygen at the house, my dad thinks we have to boil distilled water for it. He also needs sterile water for his catheder. So do I have to boil the distilled? Obviously, I’m no science major…

The plastic containers typically have plasticizers in the plastic that can leach out into the water. It’s always best to use glass if you can. Distilled water is typically pure if you distill it yourself. I would not trust the ones you buy in stores. Boiling it will only kill some of the germs. To completely sanitize it correctly you would have to autoclave it at an atmosphere of about 15.
