I got him about two weeks ago, and put him in the tank with another goldfish of the same species. They seemed perfectly content with eachother. I used water from my Pur filter for their aquarium. I just looked in the tank about thirty minutes ago, and I saw him lying on his side at the botttom of the tank. He wasn’t floating, and his eyes weren’t glazed, so I don’t think he’s dead.
What could be wrong?? My other fish seems fine, but I did get him a day after Mystery (the fish that’s lying down) PLEASE HELP!!!
I don’t see any movement from him at all. I don’t think he’s breathing, but I don’t know. There’s no filter in the tank, just a bubbler in which to put oxygen in the water. Remember, I used a PUR water pitcher filter to filter the water and use it in my tank.
OH, and I cleaned the tank two weeks ago. The goldfish are pretty small, and my mom says if I clean the tank toomuch it’ll cause them to go into shock.

I have a goldfish and when doing partial water changes, I only use (bottled) spring water. I never use water purifier because I assume the water is already pure and free of chemicals.
Should I buy distilled water instead of spring water? It is hard to be precise with water purifier because my aquarium is only 6.5 gallons and has one goldfish…

Hello,
I have a very small pond, maybe 70 gallons…It is in the middle of our patio and has 3 large waterfalls going into it with a small stream with another 3 small waterfalls…
To help keep it clean, I am putting tube socks over the intake valves on the pumps…While we never planned on any wild life, a frog moved in, and we want to make sure he is healthy.
The water gets a little stinky because he eats a ton…I am considering putting in some plants. Will this make the water dirtier or cleaner? I have been changing the water weekly and adding some of the stuff from my aquarium to de-chlorinate it..
Are Plants a good or bad idea?

I was recommended by my local aquatic retailer to try using Chemi-Pure (5oz half unit as my tank is only 20 gallons) because I have been having problems with my water being cloudy and my Ph constantly dropping. I followed all directions given including "rinsing the bag lightly before putting in the filter" and now my water is a charcoal color! My fish seem to be doing alright but is this normal? Will it clear up quickly? I have baby mollies in there and I’m concerned for them now. Please help!
phew! ok good. Thank you. I have never seen it get like that before. I guess I will rinse it a little better next time lol.
Yeah I probably should have explained this issue I’m having a little better. I have had a literally perfect tank for about a year. I do regular water changes and check my levels frequently.I bought 2 mollies about 3 weeks ago and one of them unfortunately was pregnant.(did not want babies as they are so delicate) It seems like ever since then, my water quality has deteriorated. I can’t see it being overpopulated as most of my fish have died. I have never had a spike like this, I have been using PH up for the dropping issues. Currently all I have in the tank are 1 mollie, and 1 small neon danio, and the mollie babies. I am only seeing 5 of them.As far as the product I used, it was actually very inexpensive and I do trust the store I go to as they have tutored me over the past 2 years on my aquarium. They sell nothing but aquarium items. I don;t ever trust anyone at lets say Petco or any of those other chain type pet stores. the staffs are unhelpful and unknowledgable.
Oh and I bought a new canister filter today. the tank I have is a 20 gallon and this one filtrates up to 40 gallons.

I got this aquarium from an auction and it came with everything except the fish. I never had an aquarium before but so far all is well. It just seems that it is too much water current in the tank. It came with two hang on the back filters.
Thank you for your input. I will continue to run both filters.

I have an Oscar fish in my 55gal. aquarium, and I want to know more info on different filtration methods. Since the cost of filer cartridges is getting costly. I do plenty of water changes, and the water is in great condition, but I want another solution to filter the aquarium.
Right now I run a whisper power filter for a 30-60 gallon tank.

I can’t remove the water lines on this old aquarium that I got from a friend. I tried soap, vinegar, hydrochloric acid, nothing works!

My aquarium has white hard-water stains on the inside of it due to which I am not able to get a clear view of the fishes inside.I know that i shouldn’t do a total water change and clean out the total aquarium. Can I use vinegar and scrub the inside of the glass with fishes inside? or will it harm the fishes?
I have only 6 zebra danios.
Please tell me what to do…Experienced aquarists are preferred to answer this question.

My family just got guppies. We didn’t have an aquarium so they are in a clear vase. We are thinking about getting an aquarium that keeps it’s water clean. Is there another way to keep it clean besides getting a filter. Also it can’t be like switching the water because it could shock the guppies system from the sudden water change. PLEASE HELP!
