Water purification for a newborn?
Do water filters, like Brita and Pur filter water enough to use to prepare formula, or would boiling/ bottled water still be needed?
Do water filters, like Brita and Pur filter water enough to use to prepare formula, or would boiling/ bottled water still be needed?
I need to know which is the best water filter is it Brita or PUR?
Plastic bottled water is odious to me and absurdly bad for the environment. Possible options are buying Brita or Pur filters, or installing a water filter into my kitchen faucet. I am not very rich so I was thinking of using those conventional pitchers with filters. Another option is ordering Arrowhead and using a dispenser, but is that eco-friendly? I hear some sketchy stuff about "Spring Water" too. Any good/bad experiences with water filtration systems?
I’m on a mission to find a drinking water filter (pitcher or portable preferably) one that filters out chlorine (NOT just the taste like the crappy rip-offs like Brita and Pur) one that filters out metals. . . Thanks!
Why do they make water filters like Brita that remove chlorine but not fluorine, it’s only one element away on the periodic table!
Is it so much to ask?
What about dechlorinating showerheads?
(my hot/cold water is brown/green from rust/copper patina)
It doesn’t say it’s the same it says fits Brita and Pur Water filter systems. It’s Pathmark brand.
I am looking to purchase a water filtration system for my kitchen faucet. I have seen Pur and Brita and am wondering which is best. It also looks like they have a level 2 and 3 filtration system. I want to stay within a budget and not go too crazy and am wondering which one is best. Any ideas?
We have a well that produces good water, but at different times of the year, the water becomes cloudy, brown, etc. The well is nowhere near the septic tank, of course, so any filtering system that contains a backflush process is out of the question…nowhere for the waste water to go.
The system has a pressure pump (set to 55 PSI) and a large accumulator tank. From there, the 2" pipe goes to irrigation and to the house. I know I’ll have to re-plumb most of that to separate the outside from the house water. What kind of filter do I need? There are only 2 of us, so our use isn’t huge. I just want to keep the discoloration and scale down. This is Oregon and the water is fairly good. We will continue to use either Brita or a filter for the drinking water. There seems to be a very wide range of products from to well over 00. I just want to find something that works. Not sure if I need to worry about UV??? Thanks
I’ve used Culligan elsewhere. Overpriced to say the least, but that system requires backflush…where the flushing water must go into a septic tank/sewer…which is not accessible.
County doesn’t provide a testing service here…
The output of the pump and accumulator goes directly into the concrete of the well-house. Two pipes…one for irrigation and one for the house. They are connected with no backflow device as they are inside the building. Pipe now goes to a valve then Ts to the house line (in concrete) and to a 2nd valve that Ts to the irrigation line (in concrete) and to a faucet attached to the outside.
I need to re-plumb so I have more control (to turn off house but leave on irrigation, etc), and I can figure that out…but where and how and what sort of backflush relief can I get…and I don’t want the released water to fall inside the wellhouse. Any links to what I need to buy/do? Thanks…backflush is clearly a concern now..
Like Pur or Brita? And also which one do think is best?
Um no i didn’t? I couldn’t believe that was the dude from 300. american does not look good on him.
Yea I can tell the difference between bottled and tap, and good or bad local water.
pur, brita etc…………………………………
whats the best water filter, systems like brita or anything else. im planning to get 3 a pitcher filter a fridge filter and a faucet filter. i want something that taste similar to aquafina, dasini, or fresh and easy water.
I live in an area that has very hard water. My tank is a 20 galIon community tank. I have been trying to get my pH level down to 7.0-7.1, but to no avail.
My GH level is about a 12, and my kH level is about 16. I can’t seem to get my water any softer even after using a softener pillow from API. I used only the smaller pillow for the recommended 48 hours. (maybe I should use 2 pillows?)
Is there any other chemicals that I can use to soften up the water so that I can add other chemicals to get my pH down to a manageble level. I also have plants in my tank in which I also use Flourish Excel from SeaChem. I have been researching some filters, i.e. the Tap Water Filter from API, and other Reverse Osmosis units, or what about other filters like the PUR or Brita that you attach to the faucet. Would these make my water "more pure or softer" to help with this problem?
I just found ot that my brita and pur filters do not remove the things that concern me. I do not want to drink fluoride for my own reasons, I won’t spoil tap water for people that don’t know about it, but for those of you that do here is my question: Can I drink spring water or is that fluorinated aswell, and also I know that we can take in alot of toxins from skin absorbtion, so what other ways can I avoid flouride pesticides and harsh chemicals. I haven’t been drinking water lately, Ive just been eating alot of organic fruit but I know that I can olny do that for so long. if they water the fruit with flouride water then would the fruit’s juice be made up of the chemicals or do plants fliter out fluride, i know they do not filter pesticide but pass it on to us.
I will be drinking water again.I found drinking water called buhl, and they don’t add chemials to it plus i can get it locally. it seems very safe and comes from an aquifer. I never realized that I could have a phobia I always thought I was just picky or hyper-sensitive to things that I eat drink or put on my body.
looking back on this question I guess It sounded very hysterical, but I was really upset about brita
Um, Hi, You see, I had this big seperate filter thingy that you attach to your tap with a rubber tube, but its a pain in the butt to change it, so I want the one you attach to the tap. Which brand is better, PUR or BRITA, If you have used both or one, please give me a review of them, and if you have a brand you think is better tell me and give a review. Thanks! P.S. By review I mean EVERYTHING! Price, efficiency, reliability, etc.
I’m not cheap or anything–I just figured what the heck. I drink a gallon of water a day–the basin holds way more than a gallon, so most of it ends up going down the sink. My mom uses it to water plants when it gets full and needs to be emptied but when she’s not home and it gets full and she likes it to run all day, I’ve been saving the water in jugs. She said it might not be safe even w/ Brita because Brita says nothing about getting bacteria out of the water. What do you think?
Maybe I could boil it if there’s a chance for bacteria in it?
