I am just switching my 6 month old over to formula and have been boiling and cooling water to make the bottles. Do I need to keep doing that, or can I use bottled or filtered water? We have a brita filter that we use for our drinking water, but I wasn’t sure if I can use that for his bottles or not. Thanks!

I really thought everyone knew Aquafina and Dasani were tap water. But apparently it’s news that they have to label more clearly.

Were you surprised? (Be honest.) And will this affect your purchasing? I use a Brita filter and sports bottle most days.

I am creating my baby registry (YAY!) and was wondering if putting a bottle warmer on is worth it? I am picturing myself at 3 a.m and thinking a bottle warmer in the bedroom would be nice, but I am a bit up in the air. I babysit alot to supplement my income (I’m currently student teaching for my Master’s Degree and not getting paid) and when I prepare the baby’s bottle, the mom tells me to use warm tap water to mix the formula. For moms with experience with this, are bottle warmers worth it? Is warm tap water okay to use instead? We have a Brita filter on our sink, and the tap water is okay to drink in my town – we use well water. I’m going to try to breastfeed, but just in case I can’t, or if I decide to use formula and breastmilk, I want to cover all my bases and be prepared!Just a new-mom-to-be with lots of questions! Thanks in advance!

My tap water smells musty, the condo I live in is only a few years old and I’m not quite sure what is causing the odor. I’ve tried a Brita filter, but the smell persists. I do have a hot water supplied heating system, I’m not sure if that has anything to do with it.

i want to know about the faucets in Egypt and how they will work with my Brita filter. Do I need an adapter? Will plumbers there be able to help me put it on?

I drank like more than 3 liters of water today and all that water was from my brita filter. Is this safe?
Does the brita filter out all the harmful substances?

I put a Brita Filter in storage in the same box as some fabric softener (for a period of around 3 months). Now, the filter (the plastic part, as the actual filter cylinder is new) smells like fabric softener. Does drinking the water from this filter pose a health hazard?

I have a Brita filter I add fluoridated water to. The same with the juice my kids get at snack or meal times. Is this a good idea? Is it effective?

I accidently ran hot water thru my sink this morning not realizing the Brita filter was turned on. Is my filter still safe to use? Did I ruin it? It was not extremely hot water, but rather warm/hot water.

I’m thinking of getting a Drinkwell for my cat, but he is already getting Brita water, so I see no reason to put the pure (rather disgusting) tap water into the Drinkwell since I’m already paying to replace the Brita filter every two months (if not sooner).
Would using pre-filtered water mean that the Drinkwell filters last more than the 2 weeks they state on their website?

On the box of the Brita filter, it says that it’s normal in the first 2 filtered pitchers to have "carbon dust" on the top part of the filter. However, black specks always appear on the top section of the pitcher. Not only that, but very small black specks appear in the bottom part of the pitcher containing the filtered water. Should I dump the pitcher? If so, what could I be doing wrong? I only use cold water as it specifies.

I heard that at least 60% of all water companies in America put fluoride in tap water to help with teeth strength, and I know that bottled water doesn’t have any fluoride in it so it’s not as good for your teeth. But my question is:
Does filtered water, like though a Brita filter, still have fluoride in it, or does the filter take that out as well?

The Brita website says about three months I think. My pitcher is already blinking at me after about 9 weeks.
Does a Brita filter only last two or three months? I know Brita have an incentive to lower the effectiveness time scale to get you to buy more filters, but what really is the effective lifetime ?
