Does a brita filter make Florida water taste good?

I have heard the water tastes nasty so I want to bring a brita pitcher with me but will it help?

What are these little black things (they look like beads)? Are they safe for me to still drink from the brita pitcher?

How to fix my leaking Brita pitcher?

Hi folks, My Brita pitcher of 1 month has developed a leak at the bottom. Any idea on how to seal it off. I am not a diy type so thinking of tossing it off but thot it would save me some $$. I did try the regular tape but nah!

Thanks

The water tastes fine fresh from the fridge, but then after it has been out for about an hour it smells and tastes like chlorine. Even though I have read that the Brita pitcher removes chlorine. I’ve never experienced this with any water before!

Black particles at the top of my Brita pitcher?

It,s been one week that I began to use the Brita pitcher, and I notice a lot of black particles on the upper level of the pitcher. They look like dried black tea, having the size of Nescafe powder particles. They float at the upper compartment of the pitcher.
What could they be?

I have a Brita pitcher, and I’ve had it for about a year. And how do I know if its "out of date" and time to buy a new one???

I used to replace my filter every 2 months as suggested on the box. Currently, I’m using the same filter since middle of March ’07, so I’m running about 5 months now. Now that I’ve noticed it, the box actually says "2 months OR 40 gallons" for best results. 2 months is definately long due, but i’ve been keeping a tally, and I’ve consumed about 85% of the 40 gallons (I get ALOT of water where I work since there’s a water cooler/filter there, and unlike the box which assumes a family of 4 as typical use, I’m single).

Assuming the stated capacity of the filter hasn’t been reached yet, should the 2 months be aboslute, or would you say there’s some leeway there? If the latter, how often do you think it’s best to replace the filter to keep possible bacteria and gunk that may build up due to long times of filter use out, while not wasting any extra $$ throwing away filters that could’ve had "a few more miles"?
I use a Brita pitcher b/c that and the filters were provided for free from a family member. Didn’t know much of the other filters then
