I was just wondering which is better for you Brita filtered water, or bottled water. I heard the chemicals in the water bottle contain things that are bad for your health. Highly interested just started drinking tons of water.

I’ve researched a lot on this topic and I’m torn 50/50. My doctor said its totally fine, but I’ve heard otherwise. I’ve heard that it is not PROVEN to help teeth and in fact, the side effects could be worse. Any advice moms?
The county I live in does not put flouride in their water. I only give her boiled water in her bottles, I’m crazy about all the chemicals that are put in tap water these days.

Follow up to a previous question. If I don’t use aquarium salt how do I a make the water softer and the ph lower? The water where I live is very hard and I heard that the chemicals to lower ph are toxic to fish and can make them sick. I thought about using spring water in my tank but that could become costly in the long run.

I have been using tap water that i have let sit for about a week to do water changes with and my fish still die. Am I using the right water or should i not let the tap water sit for a while? Also I use a dechlorifier. What do I do a water change with?
Here are some details, its a 20 gallon tank, i have 2 swordtail (1 male 1 female) and a loach. The pH looked somewhat high about 2 days ago but after using some chemicals it went to about neutral or slightly above. I have an undergravel filter and i try to do weekly water changes. I just wanted to know if it was acceptable to let the water sit for a while and naturally dechlorinate or if it was better to just take tap and use a dechlorifyer. How do you get the temperature to be the same though without using hot water? Thanks.

I have very hard, alkaline well water and the pH reading is around 7.8 or so. I use AquaSafe water conditioner and Stress Coat. I just recently added some Highland Rose sandstone formations to my tank as I have heard that this type of stone can help to buffer the pH to neutral. How can I neutralize the pH without adding a lot of chemicals? Answers are greatly appreciated!

Many of my plants are sensitive to the chemicals found in our tap water (flouride, salts, chloride, etc) but i cannot afford to keep buying specialized water for them. So my paIm have brown spots on the leaves and my spathes have brown tips.
I hear rainwater is great, but it dosent rain everyday, plus i live in an apartment-which makes rainwater collecting awkward. I have about 26 plants. mostly tropical foilage and maybe a few succulents……

I have a 75 gallon tank cycling with river rock bottom and several tall fake plants, I don’t like to keep real plants. I need to lower my ph from 7.5 to 6.5 because I will be keeping discus. Would a large piece of driftwood lower my ph, and by how much.? Also If I added java moss would that lower my ph, and by how much? I dont like to use chemicals so rule that out. Thanks!

My plumber tells me not to use anything with chemicals to clean oil rubbed bronze faucets, shower heads etc. What can I use to rid of calcium build up?

I’ve heard the chlorine and flouride content of tap water is harmful to your average house plant. I have lucky bamboo, mother-in-law’s tongue, a little palmy/fern looking thing, porthos, and a big lily.
Usually I let the water sit for a few hours to let whatever chemicals there may be evaporate before I water- but not every time. Sometimes I just get tap water and immediately use it.
And my plants seem ok after months to years of this. So what’s the truth of the matter?

In let’s say L.A. And when you ingest the flouride in city water where do the chemicals go? Is the amount small enough to pass through the system? Or does is the body unable to get rid of it? And if so where does it store the flouride in the body? And if it stores the chemicals im assuming it accumilates? And if it accumilates i assume it will cause adverse reactions to your body?

Are there chemicals or toxins in bottled Spring water?
Is it true it’s not regulated by the government unless it has traveled across a state line? Meaning it might be regular tap water?

could it be that they want us to drink more water? check out the ingredients. why would anyone want water with salt in it???
allright guys, allright
ok hektor, you swim in salt water, you drink fresh water. yes they would be stupid enough, they’ve already got tons of msg and high fructose corn syrup, both known to increase appetite, in foods. not to mention horrible crystalline fructose which has been recently added to smart water. it’s so sad.
ok Hektor, I’m sorry because I read your post wrong the first time. yes I would prefer salt over chemicals. but I’m willing to bet dasani doesn’t use salt to purify their water. they probably use chemicals or some other method. and all I want in my water is water. otherwise I’d buy gatorade

After reading about 12 of the leading bottled water brands being tested and found to contain fertilizer, acetaminophen and radioactive elements among other things, I don’t feel safe drinking it anymore. Apparently the plastic leeches chemicals into the water. So now I am stuck with a dilemma of either drinking tap water, buying glass bottled or a faucet filter.
How harmful are the chemicals used to treat tap water in the city, especially chlorine? Are there carcinogens? Buying glass bottled water is not an option for me, so how effective are the faucet mounted filters such as Pur and Brita? Thanks for your answers.
