I live in an apartment complex that DOES have a water softener but I think the PH levels are out of wack because several of the people in the building complain about itchy skin, scalp issues and those of us with blonde hair now have rust/orange colored hair.
When the landlord is confronted he states that the water company has already come out and things are "fine".
I on the other hand tend to disagree … because my hair is still a rustic orange instead of a beautiful blonde – and my scalp is still flakin’ up a storm.

My skin shouldnt feel like it is, my scalp shouldnt be giving me flake issues and for the amount of money I spend on my hair it shouldnt be orange…. PLEASE HELP

Can someone with a similar situation please suggest a Shower Filter that has worked for them – I’d like the name of a brand of Filter – not just a store where I can find one (most of the ones HD, Lowes and what not carries only takes out Chlorine, I need one that takes out Iron as well.

Will it not provide the needed oxygen for fishes?
The owner said it’s harmful to use tap water as it contains chlorine. Am using mineral water. Shall I change the water 25% of it into tap water or full change? Please help me. I’m really in need.

I just got a nice water filter, but I am not sure if I can drink water straight from the filter. My filter connects directly to the tap water source. Someone told me that I need to boil the water before I drink it. My filter clears .5 micron particles as well as other metals and chlorine. Thanks!!!!

If I just let unfiltered tap water sit in a plastic bottle overnight, will most of the chlorine be released as gas? Or do I have to boil the water to release the chlorine?

I used bottled water for my hermit crabs and they cannot take chlorine or chloramines (sp?). Do companies list these if they are in the water?

I know the best water filter would be one that filters the entire house, but I live in an apartment and would like to know the beset water filter that you can install. I’d really like one that filters out pathogens and other small particles…are there any that do this for a shower head? Or is filtering chlorine the best you can do?

I cleaned out my water cooler using water & bleach and I rinsed it like 6 times. My water has a very faint bleach taste now. Out of curiousity I tested my water with a pool kit i had to see what the chlorine level was and it was high (3.0). How harmful is it to drink this water?

I’ve done a fair amount of research into the chemicals dumped into municipal tap water. Did you know that fluoride is actually a harmful chemical? Yep. AND has not been conclusively proven to strengthen tooth enamel. But, all the water filtering jugs n such (ie Brita and Pur for a couple) say they remove ‘most chlorine, but leave the beneficial levels of fluoride’. I come from well-water upbringing, (best water on earth!!), but now have city water. My cat is licking her fur and chewing like her skin is bothering her… and this has started since I switched her from Reverse-Osmosis water from the ranch in CA to the city water here in SC. I’m poor (read BROKE), but I can afford a big jug of water if it’ll help her feel better. So… Distilled? or ‘purified drinking water. What’s your opinion?

I put aside a gallon of Tap Water just now, how long before the Chlorine dissolves within One Gallon of water. I have tablets that dechlorinate the water but, I want to naturally get rid of the Chlorine. Are there NATURAL methods to get rid of chlorine and chloramine?

I recently found out most states have started using chloramine instead of chlorine which the shower filter cannot remove . I am not sure I want to get it unless it removes other things besides chlorine like lead.

Some people on TV news say that bottled water is the same as tap water. I usually drink bottled water that I buy from the supermarket in a bundle of 48.

Once a year my water company sends out a print out of all the chemicals/minerals that are in our city tap water suppy that include;
Calcium, Sulfate, Chlorodibromomethane, Methyl-tert-Butylether, Chloroform, Bromodichloromethane, Bromoform, Bromochloromethane, Fluoride, Nitrate, Lead, Copper, Sodium, Chlorine, Asbestos, Total trihalomethanes, Haloacetic Acids, Alpha Emitters, Combined Radium.

That was the list in my tap water. Isn’t that bad for people? I don’t want to drink that. Is that in my bottled water? Is bottled water any better or not? Who can tell me some expert information?

Despite the environmental concerns of drinking water shipped from all over the place I enjoy drinking Fiji, Evian, and Crystal Geyser and have tried practically all of them and like these the best. Even though some brands like Arrowhead or Mt. Olympus taste worst than tap water I have my favorites like people have favorite soda pop or beer varieties. Going back and drinking tap water when I have been drinking these for awhile it tastes awful. Besides chlorine, floride (in most places) and low levels of arsenic what else is in tap water?
