Can I measure my esophageal pH at home to determine abnormal acidity?? Thank you for your answers. I am currently taking TUMS to relieve the discomfort which apparently is due to GERD. I tried to quit coffee but it ain’t workin’ too well.

I have a hot water dispenser around the size of a blender that i want to carry on with me. Will that pass the tsa security at the airport? Also, would a bag of miniature coffee creamers similar to the ones given with coffee at McDonalds pass as well? Answers are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have some coffee and makeup stains on my bathroom counter top. It is no fancy material, just generic laminate white counter top. Bleach and scouring powder did not work at all. Any suggestions?

I’m not a water drinker. I usually like to drink anything with color and taste (coffee, juice, tea but not soda (or soft drinks)). Since water is very important for our body, I’m planning to include carbonated water (with flavors) as part of my meal or just plain water substitute.

I am trying to drink more water daily and cut back on sodas and coffee. But plain old water is boring. I still make myself drink it. But I really like the propel waters or the flavored waters like, Aquafina’s lemon. Or what about no sodium carbonated water like LaCroix?

Why does smoking after drinking alcohol or water give it a funny taste lingering in your mouth?
After you smoke say two cigarettes after drinking alcohol or water, you get that unpleasant taste lingering in the back of your mouth and the nostril…I dont get this after drinking fizzy drinks, coffee, cappucino or tea, only after I have drunk water or alcohol. Why does it do this?

for awhile now I have made foods that have a metallic taste to them. I was blaming this on my stainless steel pots and pans but have since bought a couple non stick pans just for it to do the same thing. The dept of agriculture and the health dept both told me it was more than likely due to my water. I have well water. its clean, very good, but apparently full of metals…iron, copper, ect. They told me that while this will not hurt you, it does make your food taste funny. They also told me that I could get a water softener to take those out…We rent our home and I really don’t want to fork out 400 bucks for a softener that will have to stay here if we choose to leave. I have a 50 dollar pur water filter that fits on the tap and was wondering before i open it and install it, if it will work to remove these so that I can cook with my well water. I don’t notice the taste when i brew tea or coffee, mainly if i boil or simmer something….Right now I am using water from my mothers house to cook with. So do you think this will work? or will i be stuck forking out that money for a water softener? thanks!

My teacher is going to mix water with soil, coffee, and coke and wants us to build filters to filter the water. What’s the best approach to this?

I drink a lot of coffee, but I also eat Lean Cuisines a few times a week, which have a lot of salt. I barely drink during the day, so I am probably dehydrated most of the time, but I feel bloated, which my doctor says could be due to salt intake. How much water should I drink a day to combat water retention? Will this reduce my bloating?

i was soaking my white cargos (100% cotton i think) in water because i wanted to get the Spray n’ Wash out. (spilt coffee, washed the spot with spray n wash, wnated to get out the spray n wash afterward lik eyou’re supposed to without a washing machine.)
but is soaking stuff in water for a long time bad for the clothes? will the water.. like do something to them or something?!

I was presented with an opinion today. This person is a culinary expert, he believes that as you let water sit it loses oxygen. The subject was over tea and coffee… He says that if you draw water from your tap, you need to use it within hours for brewing tea or coffee or the taste can be effected because the water loses oxygen and both need oxygen to brew properly. He referenced how you need to oxygenate and filter water in a fish tank. I honestly cannot believe that water can lose oxygen. That would mean that the compound H2O would be decomposing, and however possible that may be, oxygen and hydrogen at room temperature are gasses, so the water would (for all intensive purposes) be evaporating…. less pure H2O in the liquid, not less oxygen.
If you have purified water then wouldn’t that eliminate the problem?
Is there another chemical reason to use only freshly drawn water?

Mainly I just don’t want to taste the chlorine in tap water, and better tasting coffee. Which type will remove most of the junk, filter system or purifier? Or are other factors more important to consider. Please answer if you can speak from actual knowledge or experience.
