I know that plants need a certain amount of nutrition from the soil to grow, and that when growing plants indoors, the only nutrition they get is what you give them. I am trying to grow these plants completely organically, with dirt from my backyard, using nothing bought from a store except the vegetables/plants from which I took the seeds. So far I have large sprouts of morning glories and catnip, and small sprouts of tomatoes, green beans, cucumber, and green bell pepper. They seem to be doing very well with a combination of filtered tap water and mineral water, but I want to make sure they don’t suddenly die out because they are getting too much or too little of something. The mineral water is bottled still (not carbonated) Italian mineral water. I have southern exposure in the window that they sit in, so sunlight doesn’t seem to be a problem. Any tips for growing these through the winter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

how often should I water my house plants?

I’m a notorious plant killer, but I still love having them. I just bought a bunch of new house plants. Im not sure what kind they are, but generally, how often should I water them? Ive been watering them every wednesday. Should I water them if the dirt is still slightly damp, or should I be waiting til the dirt is completely dry before I add more water?

they say to do a 90% water change the day before you get your fish, how do you keep the beneficial bacteria alive between the water change and the new fish?

If you change 90% of the water won’t it destroy the beneficial bacteria? because all of the stuff that feeds it ( ammonia, nitrite etc ) are gone and it has nothing to eat there fore the beneficial bacteria will die.

If you add something like eco-start or sera nitrivec ( benefical bacteria kick starters ) while doing fishless cycling ( i will be using pure ammonia ) won’t the eco-start or whatever kill the ammonia and nitrite therefore taking away the bacteria’s food?

I restarting my tank because it got ich and stuff, i am going to completly tear it down, boil the gravel, filter media, decorations, fake plants, and start all over again by adding completley dirt-free dechlorinated water and pure ammonia 1-2 days after resetting up my tank, any tips on this, destroying the good bacteria i have is not a concern.

Thanks!!!
You are not supposed to do water cfhanges during the fishless cycling, right?

I have a "clear" shower curtain that has those darn "water spots" on it. There is no mold or dirt, JUST those darn water spots. I tried spray window cleaner, but that doesn’t clean them.

ANY suggestions???

How do I clean a water snake jacket?

I have a butter yellow water snake jacket that has a black smudge on it. I have no idea what this is, but it looks like dirt or grime. How can I clean it without damaging it?

To dream of fish swimming in clean water?

I dreamed I was in a river or pond chasing two koi fish just so I could get a glimpse of them. Water was clean but I could see that if I moved the water, dirt from the rocks would be shaken off a bit, but the dirt would remain independent from the water so it remained clean.

My house uses well water, and when it rains the well fills with dirt, and the water stops running in the house. So I turned the water off, but when I turn it back on, the clear cylindrical case housing the filters fills with muddy water. If I wait, will the well fill higher and dissipate the mud, or can I turn it on now? I want water!

This is for a science (specifically Chemistry) lab we were doing. Our teacher brought out a beaker with a muddy mix of water and dirt, telling us to try and seperate the dirt from water and produce as much pure water as possible. We have access to all the equipment at school, like the bunsen burners, beakers and such. He instructed us to create an original way to filter out the dirt. We are allowed to bring materials or supplies from home, although he suggested not to bring coffee filters as that isn’t very original… and I have been brainstorming with no conclusions. Any suggestions or cool ideas?
