if you had to go to a deserted island, what would you bring? First thing is to find drinkable water. But, the questions is how? How are you going to find drinkable water when all you have is sea water? Please help -if you can…

Remember, you have no electricity and you are all alone on a remote island.

Hi guys, just wanted to konw why tap water conducts electricity, while distilled water does not conduct any electricity. It has something to do with bonds, like ionic, covalent (polar/non-polar). Any ideas? Thank you

Also,
What is happening to the molecules of a COVALENT solid as it is dissolve in distilled water?

Use the answers from above to explain how electricity is more easily conducted by one substance compared to the other?

i just replaced my hot water heater and all i’m getting is luke warm water. about three days after installation i took out both elements and looked them over the top element was completely covered in calcium deposit it looks like and the bottom one looks brand new i have replaced both and the same thing keeps happeneing i had culligan come out and look at my water softner and they said thy fixed my hard water problem. it has been 4 days since they came out and still getting quiet a bit of build up on the top element and now hot water can anyone please help. yes ive had plumbers come out they don’t know anything, i’ve had electricans come out they don’t know anything and culligan came out and charged me a bunch of money and apparently didn’t fix anything
i konw for a fact their are no air bubbles in the line, i am not on city water it is a well and i am currently puting in a filter before the water softener, and i know there are very good plumbers out there i’m just saying the 4 plumbers that have tryed to help me have said " wow this really has me stumped" thanks for everyones input so far 2 things i’m currently trying to do to resolve the problem since i know my electricity is good and my elements are good is 1 put in a inline filter before the sofner 2 set my water softener up for every day instead of every 3 days which is what the culligan guy set it up as, and 3 possibly changing the brand new elements from the ge ones they sent me to sand hog ones i here they are better any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated thank you everyone for your input so far

My water softener doesn’t work. How do I fix it?

My electricity was out for a couple of days and now my water softener doesn’t work.

It has an Autotrol Corp. Model 1550-TC controller that isn’t working.
(I’ve already sent an email to the company that makes it with no answer yet.)

Anyone know how to fix it or have any ‘trouble-shooting’ suggestions?

Thanks for your help!

I know water can damage electrical equipment, but why can water do this? I’m sure it has to do something with electricity and water. I seek an in-depth answer that will leave me with no doubts, or further questions, if possible.

How do domestic electrical hot water cylinders work?

In some countries, hot water is generated in houses by heating large cylinders of water. Quite often, this is done late at night when demand for electricity is low, called off peak heating. The cylinders are connected to the main water supply and so operate at main pressure. But how do they manage to keep the hot water from being diluted by cold water when a hot tap is opened?

So I’m not sure if the running water itself is powering them or if there’s a little battery inside from which the LED draws electricity from. Either way, how does it work?

Our pool is 6 years old and has a GoldLine Salt water system. Could it be a fuse problem? There doesnt seem to be ANY electricity ‘running’ it.

I am performing an experiment in which you wet your hands, place one on an aluminum plate and one on a copper plate, and it produces an electric current when connected to a DC micrfo ammeter. Wet hands produce more of a current than dry hands because water conducts electricity. Why does salt water work better than plain water? And why does tap water work better than distilled water? I believe both have something to do with ions but I’m not sure. Help me please!

I am considering having a water well drilled to use for watering a new lawn I am planning to start this fall. The cost for drilling the well and installing the pump and running electricity to the pump was quoted at almost 00. Aside from this initial up front costs, what regualar maintenance costs should I anticipate. I have a neighbor who said he considered a well, but the upkeep on it turned him away. He mentioned the water needing to be treated, wells closing up and needing to be cleared out, etc. I watered my grass a lot this summer and the water big was quite expensive, but I don’t want to trade one big expense for another. I’m mainly getting the well to save money because we already have city water service.
