I have a GE side by side door refridgerator with a water/ice dispenser. Can I add water instead of connecting it to a water hose? I live in an apartment and well it didn’t come with a water connection behind the fridge and I don’t want to do any plumbing because it is an apartment. My question is, can I add water somewhere for it to dispense water and ice? And if so, where can I add water and how much?

I have a 2 year old kenmore fridge that has the water filter cannister in the bottom. The water tastes and smells bad. I thought it was the PUR filter and I replaced it. It still is same. I then took out filter and flushed system(its a plastic tube coiled up behind the crisper). It still tastes and smells bad. Is it the line coming from under the faucet that connects to the fridge or the line inside the fridge or the water intake pump bad? I really flushed it good twice but the taste/smell comes back. Thanks John

We bought a new fridge and it has a water dispenser the problem is the water taste like water from a hose pipe. How long does it take for the water to loose that new hose flavor?

I have a proctor-silex one and I’m worried about it causing cancer since it directly comes in contact with the water I boil
Also, anyone know if brita filters are safe to put in the fridge?

the water lone has never been run and this dispenser has never been used.
If its intended to be fed by my plumbing lines which are under pressure, does that mean the kool-aid source needs to be under pressure?
I can hear a water pump pump activate when i press the lever, so i hope my concern isn’t problem.
If the water does need to be under presssure, does this mean the fridge has an internal reservoir?
Ive put a whole 30 seconds thought in to this, lets get it done..
water "line"
not lone

This fridge is 1.5 years old; it is the french-door-style fridge with freezer drawer on bottom. Whenever the fridge comes on to cool down, the ice dispenser on the door opens and shuts loudly repeatedly while the digital display blinks on and off and none of the buttons work. When the fridge stops cooling, it stops blinking and making the noise, but neither ice nor water dispensing works. Will call Amana tomrrow, but any suggestions??

Are they any good? Would you recommend the one on a pitcher, to fill up and put in the fridge? Do they actually clean your water?

Hi. I am trying to figure out something about water filters. I used to live in CT. And the water tasted fine. But I had a PUR water filter anyway to get rid of all the contaminants in the water. I would say I changed the filter about once a month. Just recently I moved to South Carolina. And I have noticed that the tap water here does not taste good. Even when I filter it with my PUR filter, it still tastes almost as bad as coming straight out of the tap. So I want to invest in a new water purifier, and I am trying to figure out what the best one to buy is. I have a small kitchen sink. So I need one that is able to be put in the fridge. Not one on the sink itself. And I have done some research. But I want to invest my money wisely and not just go with what the website for pur or britta or ect… says. So I was wondering what everyone else thinks is the best. And maybe that can help me make up my mind.
Thanks all.
Ok. Can anyone say why they think theres is the best. Like if you have ever used them or seen them used. I want to make sure its just more then you have seen and believed the commercial.

My side by side refrigerator has never dispensed cold water, always room temperature. I called Frigidaire today and they told me that their water dispensers do not cool the water. It just doesn’t me sense to me that a fridge would dispense room temperature water. Does anyone have a Frigidaire that dispenses cold water?

We bought a new fridge with an in door water dispenser/ice maker but we cannot get water into it. We think the problem may be low water pressure. This is a rental house. Is there any easy way to diagnosis and fix this problem?
Ok well the ice maker is totally filled but when you push the dispenser on the door it doesn’t come out. I don’t think it is the low pressure, I think maybe there is something wrong with the dispenser itself. Any ideas?

I moved in this house 2 yrs ago and recently bought a new fridge to replace the old crappy 1970’s looking one that was here. It is a GE side by side with ice and water dispenser on door. I thought I would need a plumber to run the water line but when I pulled it out to clean back there I notced I do have a water spicket back there. Do I still need a plumber? I am paying the for the guys who move it in the hosue to hook it up but dont know if I need more then what is already there. What I saw was a square hole neatly cut into the wall behind fridge and a water spicket valve. Thanks!

The model number on the fridge is GC5SHGXKS00. We just purchased the house and neither the water dispenser or the ice dispenser is working. The ice maker creates ice, but when you press the dispenser no ice (crushed or cubed) comes out. Also, when you press the water lever, no water comes out. I have not yet tried replacing the water filter. The light works on the dispenser, so I cannot figure out what the problem is. Please help!!
When I press either lever, for ice or water, I do not hear anything. I think you are probably right about the electrical problem. How do I proceed if it is an electrical issue?

I bought a cheap water dispenser for the fridge. It just one of those simple plastic ones. It’s about a gallon size. The water only comes out right when it’s completely full. After I get one cup of water, it starts to slowly sputter instead of draining smoothly. Any easy way to fix that? Thanks.
It’s not a machine dispenser. It just a plastic jug with a tap.

The ice dispenser still makes ice, and there are no obstructions blocking the dispenser. But when we go to use it there is no sound or movement when we push on either the ice or water dispenser part. Fridge is only eight years old. I suspect a faulty dispenser motor.
