Last fall we bought a new Samsung refrigerator that is black and has a water/ice dispenser built into one of the doors. Our water comes from a city well and leaves water spots on my black car unless I use the Mr. Clean autodry carwash which uses a water filter. The fridge also has a water filter that I’ve changed twice now, but any time water drips down the door and dries, it leaves white marks which are very difficult to remove. What can we do to stop this from happening?

before the filter in thr fridge we have really hard water and do not want any deposits entering fridge line. Any good filter that will work at a good price would like to just install in the 1/4" plastivc line.

Got a fairly new fridge from a friend who decided they didn’t like stainless after all. My gain. Problem is it sat unused for a while and now the water and ice taste "old". Is there a way to clean the system? The filter still indicates it’s good. Thanks!

i have stainless steel-front fridge with water dispenser on front. There is always an ugly streak of dried water running down the front, under the dispenser. The cleaner that came WITH the fridge is useless. So is everything else I’ve tried. Please help–if you really have the answer! Thanks!

I was thinking of just boiling the tap water, then pouring it into jugs and keeping the water in the fridge. It would save money.

My ice maker in my Whirpool fridge is producing only a few cubes, and the ones it does make are almost always hollow or small. All of the advice I’ve found on here says that the filter probably needs to be changed, but how the heck do I change the filter? Where is it on the fridge? Where would I get a replacement filter? I didn’t even know they had filters.

It feels so foreign to me to drink water straight from my kitchen faucet. My mom boils AND filters our water every day. I am having trouble getting my 8 glasses a day because the fridge I have at home does not have the water part and I use to have that in my old house and I use to drink like almost 2 gallons a day. My skin was perfect and I had an easier time maintaining my weight. Now that I don’t have that fridge, I probably drink 2-3 glasses of pure water a day! is it okay if I start drinking from the tap? My skin is still clear mostly but I have small blemishes and it just does not glow the same, and my weight has fluctuated. Let me know. The water website for my county goes over the filtration system and its pretty impressive but I am so unsure since I was not raised to drink water this way.

DIY water line or bring in a pro?

We are going to close on a house in 13 days (our first home), and last weekend we purchased a fridge. The fridge that is in the home now (not staying) is a traditional fridge with a top freezer. Simple, traditional, blah.

The one we purchased is a side-by-side with a water filter in the door. Fancy!

The question is this: now that we have to install a waterline to the fridge, ss this something we can do/ask the talented father-in-law to do, or should we just grit our teeth and hire a pro?

Obviously hiring a professional would be easiest, but if installing it ourselves is a possibility and will save us money, it’s well worth it.

Is there any way to make my water taste better? I mean without adding fruit like lemon to it, or something. I need to be drinking lots of water right now, because I have a UTI, but I can’t stand the taste, and I don’t want to have to depend on bottled water…

In case anyone asks, my Brita dispenser is clean, properly rinsed, and has a brand new filter in it (changed the filter last night thinking that might help; it didn’t). Also, the food in my fridge is fresh, and I have baking soda in there to absorb odor, etc.

I have a Kitchen Aid Fridge. About 4 years old. All of a sudden the water dispenser has started acting weird. The ice maker works fine, but the water dispenser only dispenses 1 cup of water at a time. I have changed the filter to no avail. Any Ideas?
Update:
Thank you all who answered.

I have checked water line — no gunk or frozen ice. When I push the water switch on the door I get about 1 cup of water (roughly) then water cuts out, as if the power is cut off. Then no water for next few hours. Then few hours later again I can dispense about 1 cup of water before it cuts off again. I can do this repeatedly. I suspect it is the solenoid getting hot and cutting off — can you tell me if it is a DIY item?
Thanks Again for helping!!

I drink a lot more water now that I have a water dispenser with a filter on my fridge, but I’m wondering if that filter is also removing fluoride from the same water.

I bought one of the filtering pitchers to have at work, but I don’t exactly have a fridge to keep it in, I just want to keep it on my desk instead of buying bottled water, but can I just leave it there, do I have to dump it out everyday or will it be good just sitting there? It has a lid.

I’m a college student and don’t have a fridge in my room, but the tap water where I live is lousy. Can I keep a water filter on my desk or dresser in the sun, or will bacteria grow in it?
