The other day i caught my boyfriend changing (a quarter) of the water rout of his ten gallon tank with water straight from the tap. Is this amount still deadly or is it ok because it is being diluted by the other three quarters of aged water?

I have a 75 gallon tank cycling with river rock bottom and several tall fake plants, I don’t like to keep real plants. I need to lower my ph from 7.5 to 6.5 because I will be keeping discus. Would a large piece of driftwood lower my ph, and by how much.? Also If I added java moss would that lower my ph, and by how much? I dont like to use chemicals so rule that out. Thanks!

I have a ten gallon tank with three balloon mollies in it. I was wondering how often I should change the water (and how much I should change when I do)? Should I ever do a complete water change? Also, when I change the water what should I put into the new water, just de-chlorinator or should I also add cycle and some aquarium salt?

I refill my tank obout once a week ,thats 208 tanks per year ,There are two filters in my cooler .That would be about 104 tanks per filter per year . I think my tank is a three or four gallon tank .They recomend changing every 3 months but I disagree .I have gone a year now with out changing my filters .I think I did my math right .I use my filterd water only for drinking and makeing ice cubes .That includes coffee and tea .

Just bought a 55 gallon tank from someone, but have no clue how to set this stuff up. I need to figure out how the powerhead 402 water filters are set up. I have two of them for my tank. We also have the undergravel bottom plates if that affects anything.

I have a freshwater aquarium that needs several water changes each week, due to it being heavily stocked. Now, the water that I’ve been using as replacement is tap water that I run through a Pur water filter, and I am also adding a water conditioner as an extra precaution. The filter is said to remove all heavy metals as well as a whole list of other things from my water. Do you think it would be fine to just trade out the straight up filtered water, or should I keep using the water conditioner. I’m just so sick and tired of measuring out chemicals for my fish tank!
Is there a way to know if my filter is removing the chlorine and chloramine from my water? For what it’s worth, it sure tastes chlorine-free!
i have about 20 guppies in a 25 gallon tank…..SHOULD I be changing the water that much? Its just guess work, really. I have no idea what I’m doing.
i’ve got the pH under control, its the chemicals i’m asking about

I’m looking at two 250L/h filters. Is that enough for a 55 gallon tank?
I was also thinking of using an under-gravel filter. Which would you recommend? Thanks!

any recommendations on which system/website?
I will pay a few hundred one time to not have to change this 80 gallon tank weekly (which I don’t do regularly anyhow so the water gets algae infested).

So I have a 75 gallon tank, I’m running an eheim 2215 and a emperor 400. I keep up maintenance on both filters regularly. I’m pretty displeased with the emperor 400, I have a bunch of small particles in the water coming from that filter. I’m just looking to replace it with another canister, a canister just for pure mechanical and chemical filtration. I was looking at the eheim 2213, what are some other good ones?

Well.. I’m cycling a 5 Gallon Tank for a Betta and an African Dwarf Frog. And.. Today I tested both Nitrite and Ammonia both reading Zero. And I decided to do some research on what exactly did I do during my Fishless Cycling. Turns out.. I don’t think I did any cycling. I did NOT add any Ammonia. So It just started out as Tap Water. I just put Tap Water with some Stress Coat. I let it run with a filter, Air stone, and a Heater. It has Pool Sand.
Did I actually cycle? Or is it just.. Pure water?

I have a 55 gallon fish tank powered by two 60 gallon filters. Each filter requires 2 filter cartridges to run. I was wondering if i could go a little longer without changing them because there are two of them. I usually change them once every 3 weeks, but that runs me a lot of money, especially when I got another 29 gallon tank also power by a 60 gallon filter that needs changing. I vacuum my tanks and do a 20% water change once a week. Any suggestions?
BTW the 55 gallon only has 6 afican cichlids in it.
