Which whole house water filter is better ? GE or Omni ?
I have to choose GE GXWH35F from home depot or OMNI BF7 from Ace hardware to install on my 1" water supply line. The town water is yellowish in summer.
Which one should I installed ?

I came accross this filter.

It looks cost effective but im wondering how long the potscrubbers would hold up after long use. (This would be for a saltwater tank so im thinking the potscrubbers dont stand a chance) If I have to replace them 3 or 4 times a year bioballs would quickly be the more cost effective.
Im not dead set on this setup so im looking for some home depot ideas that can be completly different from the posted setup. I have a few homedeopt giftcards that need spending.
If you know of a way to condence a wet/dry into a 10g tank that would be great. (for size concerns)
Anyway I need some sort of quiet pump to get that water back into the aquarium. This will be a bedroom setup so quiet is the key. Also would need to be able to hook up to manufactured tubing or pvc. (dont want a flood and I want the hookups to be purchased not made, cept for the pvc clearly you can seal that yourself)
Yes I was pretty certain potscrubbers were not the way to go. As far as glass or acrilic cutting I would feel more comfortable with plastics.
Im terrible at glass cutting and plastic can be more forgiving.
I have a water cooler, and regularly buy 5 gallon bottles of Hinckley water at the Home Depot. I like the convenience, and price of the Home Depot, but sometimes i think i get bad water. Any Alternatives?
I’m looking at a GE water softener made by GE and installed by Home Depot. It’s the biggest one and it’s a 2 tank system. In my area we have more minerals in the water than chemicals. I understand the the profit margins on those are big. What companies, and brands would you go for? How much would you expect to pay? I’ve got a 3400 sq. foot house with 4 people. Thanks
My boy friend and I are looking for a water conditioning system. Yesterday we talked with a Rainsoft sales guy and were shocked by the price of the whole house filtration system. Can anyone explain how an ionized exchange resin works and why it is better than the attachable filters I can buy at Home Depot for a fraction of the price?
I have a brass/gold colored sink fixture and am trying to find shower fixtures and shower doors that match and am having no luck at Lowe’s or Home Depot. The only seem to have silver and nickel. I have found some brass items online but they are over half the price of the same thing in the other colors. Why the high price as well?
our faucets part that allows the faucet handle to grip the wall base are broken and worn, we cant’ turn water on at all now, i have no clue what those little parts are called, i can’t find brand name on fixture, and have been to 4 different stores including home depot, does anyone know where else i could look?
Im doing a science fair project and i want to measure minerals in tap water, water in water fountains, tap water , etc. Are there any kits i can buy in home depot? Are is there any other method that can help me?
I have gone to two hardware stores and home depot but nothing will fit my Pur water filter. Usually there are adapters in the box that i buy but there were none with the last Pur water filter I purchased. The water filter is useless as I suspect that I need an adapter that is only made by Pur for the newest click on filter adapter.
My kitchen faucet is all messed up (has a leak, etc). I want to go buy a new one at Home Depot or Lowes, how do I know what size will fit and properly screw into the hole when I remove the old one? Or are all faucets for kitchen sinks the same diameter for the screw hole?
Renovating a luxury home and would like to buy high end faucets in bulk. Is there a place on the east coast (NY or Boston) that have great products at reasonable prices. Home Depot products are not high end enough.
I have it under all of my cabinets and want to hard wire but wonder if it’s safe. It’s really warm and when they’ve been on a while the cabinets are warm to the touch. Not hot, but wamr in ihe inside floor. Could this be a fire hazard ?
These were purchased at Home Depot as under counter lights.
I keep looking online and the company doesn’t seem to exist. Is this line of faucets made just for Home Depot by a larger faucet manufacturer? This kitchen faucet has a pull out sprayer and the rubber spray/stream button cover has turned into rubber crumbs.
I just had a 1 1/4" granite countertop installed in my kitchen. When I went to install the faucet I realized that the shafts for the faucet were too short and I could not both cramp the faucet to the countertop and attach the water supply. I bought some plastic extenders from Home Depot but those kept leaking. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
Didn’t really have room for the entire correct question in the title…
I’m planning on getting a water softener for my home and am having problems understanding where companies such as Culligan get their prices.
The house is pre-plumbed.
I feel very confident that I am 100% capable of installing a system on my own.
I know the quality of my water and know what I am looking for in a water conditioning system. (At least I think I know what I am looking for)
I can go to a store like Home Depot or Lowes and buy some water softener that looks like a little trash can (the membrane and the salt storage are a single unit). I would have to install this myself and if I wanted to do it properly get the permits from the city. (Supposedly I have to do this because if I don’t install backflow protection I can backflow my membrane into the municipal supply. This is what Culligan told me, I haven’t independently verified it.) The unit only costs about 0 though.
Just to see what they would charge, I had Culligan come out and give me a free estimate. They have the systems that look a little more "sturdy" with a separate salt storage unit and one of those membranes that looks like a compressed air cylinder. Their system cost about 00.
There might be a little difference on some of the bells and whistles, like auto-regeneration and other items, that I would pay much closer attention to when I am deciding on a unit. But what is the big difference between these units?? Is Culligan just trying to overcharge because they are Culligan? Is their unit going to last 7 times as long as the big box retailer’s unit?
I know my parents had an expensive "Culligan-esque" softener installed in their home 15 years ago and they have never had any maintenance done and it still works perfectly… It is just so tempting for me to only spend 0-0 and do the work myself.
Any thoughts or personal experience would be very much appreciated.
