We have really hard water and the dishwasher is just not doing a great job alone. Any ideas? We’ve already been using LemiShine. Which works about 75% of the time.
We already use JetDry. I try to keep the dispenser full.

And what should I do?
I want to get more visible abs, and I’m doing a great job of getting the fat off. But I’ve heard that water retention is part of the reason abs don’t show up. So does that mean I should try and sweat out all the water? Any information you could share would be appreciated.

Do I need a reverse osmosis system, or another filer, to remove higher-than-normal lead and uranium?
or can I use Pur or Brita type to *sufficiently* do the job? I have an infant, he is my world and it is my job to protect him the best way I can. So, you can imagine why the contaminants are a major concern here.
Our last house had great water quality so we have a faucet-mounted Brita… we’d love to buy a new filter and call it a day.I think Brita and the like are able to get rid of lead, but uranium?
So be brutally honest, if I have to shell out the big bucks for reverse osmosis let me know! And please, don’t just say "Move away" or "Don’t drink the water". Those aren’t options : )

I live in a rocky area, like a Native American mountain area. The uranium is not exceeding legal limits but the level is just higher than other areas. The lead is due to a shooting range near the lake we live on. Both substances in my water are above California "health guidelines" due to the lack of enforced federal guides keeping us safe, so this is what I’m going by.

I appreciate the info in advance!

Last time I posted a question, someone said something about reverse osmosis being costly to operate and wasteful of resources. I wasn’t aware how many gallons are thrown away by the process! Thanks!

I used to think that the blue faucet gave cold water, and the white one was room temperature water – but I just started a job where they have a culligan cooler and the water from the white nozzle seems to be just as cold as water from the blue nozzle…

"Team- based salary"?

I work for neste waters. A big water company in the usa. They own arrowhead, ice mountain, deer park, poland spring, etc. i delivery water products to businesses and homes. My salary is based on a teams performence. For example: three peope may share a ten mile radius of customers. The total number of bottles delivered is split between us three and thats how we get paid. But our route is not equal. One guy might deliver less bottles than the other guy. Another guy might deliver more stops with customers who require him to travel all around the building to deliver two bottles. Basically really unfair and how can a company get away with this? I assume this is illegal. I know employees with the same job as me sued the company and now they r hourly paid. But in texas we still get paid team based salary. Should i go to a corporate lawyer? I live in texas and maybe the laws are different here.
In all honesty i’m too old and beat up to switch jobs and companies. I understand when you say the company would of checked to see if this was legal. But out in the east coast the employees sued the company and won. NOw they are hourly pay. But i’m unsure why we in texas are still team based?

Water filters allow minerals with higher solubility eg calcium, Magnesium and fluoride to pass through but not mercury, lead, chlorine etc. Where can I get the solubility table ;of minerals so I know which can pass through and which can’t

Also, how does the activated corbon filter do the job?

How small are the viruses and can they be filtered by water treatment systems?

I help out a family friend from time to time cleaning his condo when he is not able. He is out of town and I went there today to clean up and found that the condo above him had a water leak (it was her icemaker) that leaked into his condo. There was water dripping in the kitchen, down through the cabinents, onto the floor, above the fridge (so there is water all under/behind the fridge) The leak continued out into the hallway where it is carpeted.

He would like for me to clean it up before it molds since he will be out of town for 5 more days. Obviously he won’t be paying the clean up bill. (the upstairs neighbor will) So what is a fair price to charge for a clean up of this nature? Would you pay by the job? By the hour? I want to be fair- I’m not in it to make money, but I would like to be reimbursed for my time. I’m guessing it will take 2 of us about 4 hours to clean it properly.

thanks for your input :)
I wasn’t asked to do the repairs, just mop up the water as best as possible. There is a section of carpeting about 16 square feet that is wet. Other than that it is hard surfaces.

How do I add water to a hot water heating system?

My hot water heating system boiler pressure is too low and I am pretty sure that the problem is not enough water in the system to maintain pressure (and hence heat) to the second floor of my house.

Yes, I have done the usual bleeding of radiators and even drained the expansion tank. [Do you think I should do these again?]

It seems that this system is set up to automatically fill but clearly the pressure is too low for a two story job and obviously there is some method to adding water.

There are what appears to be two ways to direct water to the boiler/system but both feed from the cold water supply to the house. One is by way of a shut off valve to a reducing valve to the boiler and the other is by way of a shut off valve to a [???? with numbers (1 1/2, 2, 2 1/2, etc.) on it] and then to the boiler. Both shut off valves are open so this is why I figure the system is auto-filled.

So there it is. I just can’t figure this out. Your help would be appreciated.

Using filtered water in a steam iron?

I have to buy the water specially for irons as I live in an area that has really hard water.
If I use the water filter I have for drinking water – will this be ok and do the job the same as the shop bought water – or will I destroy my iron through lime scale?

Technorati Tags: , , , , , , , ,

I’m wondering if the water filter really is doing it’s job. I can kinda feel my left kidney and am imagining build-up from under-filtered water running through it. Ever heard of people getting kidney stones from drinking tap water?
