Is stress part of a urinary tract infection?

I have a four month old apricot pug and for the past week, she’s on an antibiotic to treat a urinary tract infection. How she got it, I have no clue. We tried changing her water source from Culligan to tap water and we also changed her food from Royal Canin to IAMS. I’m starting to think her UTI was caused from the food but I could be wrong. My vet recommended buying IAMS so we went with that.

Anyway, I went to Petco yesterday and I asked the employee if she could explain more about UTI and she said stress could be one of the factors. My pug has been settled here at home for almost two months. Maybe she’s a little stressed out that we’re trying to train her not to chew on the furniture or bite me or my other family members and perhaps we’ve stepped over her boundary just a tad. I don’t know.

My second question is that I want to train her to use the potty indoors AND outdoors but its tough to take her outside when its pretty cold first thing in the morning or when its raining (I know its going to rain as we approach the spring and summer months). What are some things you folks do to help train your puppy/dog on when to go potty outdoors? Do you train her to ring a bell or scratch some surface to let you know that she needs to go potty?

I bought a water softener pillow for my tank?

I bought a water softener pillow for my tank, but now that I’ve opened it I realized that it’s really big and doesn’t fit in my filter. Would clipping it to the tank where the filtered water comes out do?
I bought it at a PetCo two days ago, and the employee there recommended it to me. He said he had a lot of tanks so I felt he knew what he was talking about.

I have a 10 gallon tank, with a filter and heater. I was wondering if the water is supposed to be crystal clear like when I first put the water in the tank with the water conditioner & bacteria fighter? Or is it supposed to be slightly cloudy all of the time? I’m on day 4 of the cycling proccess, and I’m supposed to go to Petco for the fish on Friday, so I don’t want the fish to die or anything in my water. Right now it’s slightly cloudy, but the right temperature. Thanks!

How will I know if my tank is cycled?

Well I have a 10 gallon aquarium with everything you need, filter, heater, gravel, plants, ect.
And I plan on getting cardinal tetras and shrimp.

Anyways what i did to cycle it was fill it up with tap water an inch from the top, add water conditioner/dechlor stuff, added 5 drops of pure ammonia, waited a week, and 3 days into cycling it i put a Zebra Danio in there to get the cycling process speeded up and to make sure the water is ok for my future fish. Also the temp is 77F.

Well I bought a pH water testing kit from petco for nd i test the water daily. first i tested pure tap water and it said 7.6. then every day i tsted my aquarium water and it comes up 7.6 every time. one time to test if it worked i filled it up with nothing but ammonia (not even water) and it came up 7.6. I don’t think this works and my mom won’t get me another kit.

But my danio (Danny) is fine and how will i know if my tank is cycled?
Its already been a week and i think the water is ok, can i start slowly adding fish yet?
my water isnt cloudy its very clear and i never saw it cloudy.

I was recommended by my local aquatic retailer to try using Chemi-Pure (5oz half unit as my tank is only 20 gallons) because I have been having problems with my water being cloudy and my Ph constantly dropping. I followed all directions given including "rinsing the bag lightly before putting in the filter" and now my water is a charcoal color! My fish seem to be doing alright but is this normal? Will it clear up quickly? I have baby mollies in there and I’m concerned for them now. Please help!
phew! ok good. Thank you. I have never seen it get like that before. I guess I will rinse it a little better next time lol.
Yeah I probably should have explained this issue I’m having a little better. I have had a literally perfect tank for about a year. I do regular water changes and check my levels frequently.I bought 2 mollies about 3 weeks ago and one of them unfortunately was pregnant.(did not want babies as they are so delicate) It seems like ever since then, my water quality has deteriorated. I can’t see it being overpopulated as most of my fish have died. I have never had a spike like this, I have been using PH up for the dropping issues. Currently all I have in the tank are 1 mollie, and 1 small neon danio, and the mollie babies. I am only seeing 5 of them.As far as the product I used, it was actually very inexpensive and I do trust the store I go to as they have tutored me over the past 2 years on my aquarium. They sell nothing but aquarium items. I don;t ever trust anyone at lets say Petco or any of those other chain type pet stores. the staffs are unhelpful and unknowledgable.
Oh and I bought a new canister filter today. the tank I have is a 20 gallon and this one filtrates up to 40 gallons.

Which is a better water filter?

I am looking at getting a five gallon fish tank and I have it narrowed down between two tanks. One has a three-stage filtration system and the other has a power filter with filter cartridge. Here are the websites if you want to take a look.

Which one do you think I should buy? I don’t know much about different kinds of fish tanks so I am just going to buy whatever you guys recommend. Thanks
