Artesian water vs reverse osmosis tap water?

Which is healthier?
Bottled Artesian spring water such as kentwood springs or tap water filtered by a PUR filter?? thanks
Just said it doesn’t filter out fluoride and is endorsed by the ADA. Fuck this filter.

Is it a good idea to drink distiller water?

I like to alternate water sources on a regular basis and I have a PUR filter on my faucet

The apartment that I moved into had a pur filter already installed onto the faucet, I hate it! I understand that you are supposed to be able to twist it off but no matter how i twist it, it just spins on the faucet. Any suggestions on how to get it off?
I understand how it’s supposed so be removed, but it’s not working, the top screw part spins with no result. any other ideas?? I’m to the point of destroying it but don’t know how to do that either

I live in a rural area with horrible water from our local public water source. Sometimes we even put off bathing due to very, very high chlorine and/or rust till it clears. Obviously we cannot drink this water and we pay to have a local company bring us 5 gal jugs of water so we have drinking water. I just discovered that these 5 gal jugs are coming in #7 plastic jugs which leach BPA that they are warning people about in baby bottles and etc.(i.e. anything your children drink out of)…Sooo…does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to change this? This is better than our tap (yes we have a whole house filtering system but no system can eliminate the large amounts of rust a chlorine bleach they put in the water so we cannot use a house system as an alternative ( or a PUR filter, trust me they can’t do that kind of volume) and we cannot yet afford a well even though I’d love one in the future…any ideas??? Does anyone use a company for water delievery in 5 gal jugs that doesn’t use #7 bottles with BPA in them? Thanks for any ideas!

What adapter / where to buy it, do I need to install a Pur Filter on this faucet that does not take the usual adapters… Thanks for your help in advance.

Sorry, not sure what to call it, essentially I have a PUR filter for my faucet, and it needs to use one of the adpters to fit, the adapter screws on fine without a washer, but water squirts out of the top (obviously), however, when I add the washer and try to screw it in, the attachment doesn’t fit (it won’t screw on). Is there a liquid washer or some other product that will seal the attachment while allowing it to fit, or is there anything else i can do?

my tap water is awful.i use a pur’ filter on it that lasts only 2 weeks. for most people i talked to,it should last a month! when not filtered, alls i can taste is chlorine.and can smell it also.gross! so i decided to boil it for 10 minutes,at a rolling boil in a stainless steel chili pan.(large)..i let it cool down, and then i tasted it..gross! ok..so i will refrigerate it and see how it tastes..it was nasty.i couldnt taste the chlorine, but it wasnt to appealing at all.i had to spit it out.. is there another way to get water clean, enough to safely drink it..besides boiling or buying a ton of bottled water all the time? i havent the money till the end of the week for a filter… i need clean non chlorinated water..

Need help ASAP….We have a Delta Single Lever faucet in our kitchen that as of yesterday lost water pressure. It has an aerator built into our PUR filter which I removed to check if that was the problem. There was some sediment built up, but with the entire filter and aerator removed there is still no pressure. Every other line in the house, including the bathroom toilet and sink in the next room over function perfectly. Can anyone suggest where I can look next to possibly fix this problem?
Checked the valves under the sink….doesn’t seem to be a problem there.
As far as a cartridge is concerned, I am not quite sure there is one….when I removed the housing I found the metal ball beneath the cam and the support springs (which all seemed fine). I am in the middle of trying to run a thin plumber’s snake through each side (hot and cold) but it makes little sense that I should lose water pressure on both lines, right?
Okay….under last suggestion pulled up spout and found diverter…how do I know if it is stuck and if stuck how do I make it unstuck? It does look like there is a build up of sorts so should I use a cleansing agent (like CLR) to brush it up?
New development…
Checked diverter….found some strange black stuff (rocks? rubber?) blocking its movement. Removed the blockage. Went back and reassembled faucet by the letter…springs and all…turned water back to full open on both valves and used the top of the faucet ball to turn on water…water came out full blast and let it run for two minutes to be sure…reattached lever handle (had some trouble here) but turned water on again and the pressure went for about ten seconds before disappearing altogether…barely a dribble. Went back and checked for blockage at diverter again and none found. Followed steps back to reassemply and got pressure for ten seconds before it seemed as though lever (or something inside it/beneath it) came loose again and pressure left. I know I have tightened everything properly so where could the problem be? The lever AND the diverter maybe?

What can I do to make…?

Okay, so the water in my apartment is kind of weird tasting (it’s Philadelphia water, so that may be why) and I was looking for some way to make it taste better because I do drink a lot of water but it isn’t exactly cheap to be buying bottled water every week. Would a Brita filter make the water taste better, or is it ineffective as far as removing odd flavors from water? Also, which is better the PUR filter or the Brita filter? (If filters such as these don’t work, what can I do to make the water taste better?)
Eh, I think that would only mask it. Besides, I prefer just plain ice-cold water.
I have tried making tea and hot chocolate with the water and it still tastes funky anyway, so I think I would still be able to taste it even with those packets.

Does purified tap water filter out fluoride?

I got him about two weeks ago, and put him in the tank with another goldfish of the same species. They seemed perfectly content with eachother. I used water from my Pur filter for their aquarium. I just looked in the tank about thirty minutes ago, and I saw him lying on his side at the botttom of the tank. He wasn’t floating, and his eyes weren’t glazed, so I don’t think he’s dead.
What could be wrong?? My other fish seems fine, but I did get him a day after Mystery (the fish that’s lying down) PLEASE HELP!!!
I don’t see any movement from him at all. I don’t think he’s breathing, but I don’t know. There’s no filter in the tank, just a bubbler in which to put oxygen in the water. Remember, I used a PUR water pitcher filter to filter the water and use it in my tank.
OH, and I cleaned the tank two weeks ago. The goldfish are pretty small, and my mom says if I clean the tank toomuch it’ll cause them to go into shock.

Mixing formula with well water?

Ok I know babies can’t have well water (which is what we have), so I have been using bottled water. But we just got a PUR water filter & I was wondering if that makes the well water safe for babies. My daughter is 10 months old so we won’t have to be mixing formula much longer, but I will still water down her juice for a while (if I don’t then she will get tummy aches) which I have been watering that down with bottled water as well. I would ask her doctor, but her next check up is not until 12 months (so I’m not going to make an appt just to ask them that lol). So is it safe to use the well water with the PUR water filter? (if I get alot of mixed answers I will just wait and keep using the bottled water just to be safe) Thanks!
Yeah, I figured I would get mixed responses lol I tried to google it and found nothing except websites selling water filtration systems lol.
Actually my pur filter does remove bacteria & nitrates, among other things

What is the best water filtration device?

I had a PUR filter on my sink for about a year before it started falling apart and spewing water everywhere, tried the Brita pitcher and that also started leaking near the spout a month after I purchased. Im tired of spending money on these crappy products. I would buy a filter for the entire house but we rent. Whats the ultimate in home water solution that is fail proof? All I drink is water so I need something that works.
I know there are filters for your spout, as ive mentioned ive tried it already and it did not work well. Will the reverse osmosis system by Brita not fail on me like every other filter ive used? What exactly is it?

One day when we had a heavy rain, I caught several gallons of the rain water as it was coming through our spouting. Then, I filtered it through my PUR filter cartridge system (the type that filters 1/2 gallon at a time). I’ve heard that rain water is good for drinking. However, I’ve heard about acid rain being harmful. I’m just trying to distinguish whether or not acid rain is in a different category than what I call "regular rain water".
The reason I collected rain water for drinking is: When I run my tap water through my PUR filter (which by the way does make my tap water taste better), but I found out that it does not remove the flouride that is put in our drinking water and I’ve heard that the flouride has been known to cause cancer.
