…water output no longer filtered?
I use the PUR filters in my refrigerator and on my kitchen tap for water. The indicator lights will change from green to red in 45-60 days after a filter replacement, but the water will keep flowing for another 60-90 days before the filter completely clogs up, and then I have to replace the filter. During the period when the light is red, is the water still being purified? My guess is that it is.
I use a similar filter system when I go hiking, and the instruction manual states that the filter will only output clean filtered water and can be used up until it is completely clogged. But the data on the home filters only say to replace the filter immediately after the light goes red. I think they just want to sell more filters.

My parents always fill a water kettle with tap water, and boil it to use for drinking. I have a feeling this is common knowledge, but is this safe? Is it as good as filtered tap water (i.e. Pur filters)?

Plastic bottled water is odious to me and absurdly bad for the environment. Possible options are buying Brita or Pur filters, or installing a water filter into my kitchen faucet. I am not very rich so I was thinking of using those conventional pitchers with filters. Another option is ordering Arrowhead and using a dispenser, but is that eco-friendly? I hear some sketchy stuff about "Spring Water" too. Any good/bad experiences with water filtration systems?

I’m thinking of buying a Pur water bottle for my grandmother, but I first want to make sure the replacement filters are available in stores. I don’t know if there is like a one-size-fits-all filter, or if there are different filters for every product.
I found the PUR CF100 Filtering Water Cooler Tank on amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/CF100-Filtering-Water-Cooler-Tank/dp/B000K6JL5O/sr=8-21/qid=1168843852/ref=sr_1_21/105-1641980-2239627?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden
….it says it comes with "2 model CRF-950 filters," but I can’t find those filters for sale online, which makes me think that they won’t be in stores. I’ve only looked in 2 stores, and the filters I’ve found either don’t match those numbers, or don’t say that they fit that particular cooler.
Does anyone have experience with this water bottle or can you tell me if it will be easy to find replacements or how to know if the filters I see in stores will fit this cooler even though it’s not listed on the box? thanks
Yes, it’s a bottle that is supposed to fit on most coolers. I thought I read somewhere about certain Pur filters being discontinued, so I wanted to see if someone had an opinion on this or some knowledge about it.

I just found ot that my brita and pur filters do not remove the things that concern me. I do not want to drink fluoride for my own reasons, I won’t spoil tap water for people that don’t know about it, but for those of you that do here is my question: Can I drink spring water or is that fluorinated aswell, and also I know that we can take in alot of toxins from skin absorbtion, so what other ways can I avoid flouride pesticides and harsh chemicals. I haven’t been drinking water lately, Ive just been eating alot of organic fruit but I know that I can olny do that for so long. if they water the fruit with flouride water then would the fruit’s juice be made up of the chemicals or do plants fliter out fluride, i know they do not filter pesticide but pass it on to us.
I will be drinking water again.I found drinking water called buhl, and they don’t add chemials to it plus i can get it locally. it seems very safe and comes from an aquifer. I never realized that I could have a phobia I always thought I was just picky or hyper-sensitive to things that I eat drink or put on my body.
looking back on this question I guess It sounded very hysterical, but I was really upset about brita

I have a Pur pitcher. How do I know when to change the filter?
The website says…
"All PUR filters come with a built-in Automatic Safety Monitor™ gauge so that you’ll know
(and even in advance) when it’s time to change the filter."
This tells me nothing.
When I pour water, the light blinks. Does this mean its time to change the filter, or do I change it when the light stays on even when not pouring?
Thanks.
