we just bought 55 gallon freshwater tank and put our fish in it after water temp was good, and 4 of our 6 fish died. The tank smells horrible. We reused rocks that were in the bottom of tank before, but didnt strain them.Or maybe we added salt from water softner from bathtub??help?
We used water that came from a water softener. but also used some of the water from the original tank they were in. The tank does have a bad strong smell that is believed to be ammonia smell we have read about. The fish before dieing kept going to the top of the water and then back down? We have transported fish to different tanks with no problems and this time our four smaller fish died within half hour. Only other fish in there are placo’s. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

…besides Kakariko village. I was going to bring hot spring water to a Goron so I could get through a huge pile of rocks blocking the way but I accidentally spilled it out because I thought I had to give it to him that way. I don’t wanna bother going all the way back to Kakariko village, Is there anyplace closer? Also, how do I give hot spring water to the Goron?

What are supplies found in nature that can clean water?
What supplies found in nature can substitute the process aeration, coagulation, sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection?

I know that currents can act as a natural aeration process, and sand and rocks can act as a filteration process, but what else?

A friend bought me a "lucky bamboo" plant as a housewarming gift. It is in a very small pot that does not have a hole in the bottom. There are rocks in the pot, not soil. How do I water it if there is no hole on the bottom? How often should I water it? Also, how much water should I put (the pot is not clear so I cannot see how much water I am putting and where it reaches).

Please help. Thanks!

Need help ASAP….We have a Delta Single Lever faucet in our kitchen that as of yesterday lost water pressure. It has an aerator built into our PUR filter which I removed to check if that was the problem. There was some sediment built up, but with the entire filter and aerator removed there is still no pressure. Every other line in the house, including the bathroom toilet and sink in the next room over function perfectly. Can anyone suggest where I can look next to possibly fix this problem?
Checked the valves under the sink….doesn’t seem to be a problem there.
As far as a cartridge is concerned, I am not quite sure there is one….when I removed the housing I found the metal ball beneath the cam and the support springs (which all seemed fine). I am in the middle of trying to run a thin plumber’s snake through each side (hot and cold) but it makes little sense that I should lose water pressure on both lines, right?
Okay….under last suggestion pulled up spout and found diverter…how do I know if it is stuck and if stuck how do I make it unstuck? It does look like there is a build up of sorts so should I use a cleansing agent (like CLR) to brush it up?
New development…
Checked diverter….found some strange black stuff (rocks? rubber?) blocking its movement. Removed the blockage. Went back and reassembled faucet by the letter…springs and all…turned water back to full open on both valves and used the top of the faucet ball to turn on water…water came out full blast and let it run for two minutes to be sure…reattached lever handle (had some trouble here) but turned water on again and the pressure went for about ten seconds before disappearing altogether…barely a dribble. Went back and checked for blockage at diverter again and none found. Followed steps back to reassemply and got pressure for ten seconds before it seemed as though lever (or something inside it/beneath it) came loose again and pressure left. I know I have tightened everything properly so where could the problem be? The lever AND the diverter maybe?

I have a tank that has cycled. It’s 14 gal and had it for about 3 months or longer. I think I have a bacterial bloom as the water is a bit cloudy. I have kept up my weekly routine of cleanings and routine feedings. I only have a little goldfish and a blind cave fish in it. I know it isn’t the rocks, and I siphon out from the bottom. I changed about 35% of the water yesterday. I have read that this is normal and that it usually settles down, but it’s still going on for 2 weeks now. Fish and water parameters are fine. Should I up the water changes? Filter has also been untouched.
Thanks!

I have had a 25 gallon aquarium for two years and have had a lot of trouble maintaining PH levels. I change 10% of the water every week. I only have 3 platys and a water frog so there’s not a lot of waste. I regularly use a PH Neutral powder also and I siphen the rocks regularly too. Should I change 20% of the water instead of 10%?
I test water for nitrite, nitrate and amonia regularly and all those levels are safe.

I was hiking in the mountains last Sunday and I ran out of water, so I filled up my bottle with water trickling down through the rocks, thinking that the cliff face would filter it. If I were going to get sick, how long would it take? Would I already be sick, so I’m in the clear, or could it come on much later?

I know this was stupid but I was really dehydrated. I’ll definitely bring more water next time.

How do I make a water purification system?

I need to make one for Science class, with only materials that are usually found at home. I cannot add chemicals to the treatment process. No one is going to be drinking the water. The purification system should be able to remove garbage (leaves, rocks, wrappers) and clean the colour of the water, somewhat, so that the end product is a beaker of water that has no garbage in it, and somewhat clear. Like I said before, no chemicals, and no one is going to be drinking it.

How to purify water using basic lab equipment?

There’s a little pond with some dirty water, which is contaminated with soil, bacteria, mineral salts and rocks. You are allowed to use all basic lab equipment, like heat, magnet, filters, etc..
i need to find a way to separate the components of the mixture and obtain a pure sample of drinkable water, also, separate the salt for further use…

any ideas??

a beautiful fountain of water coming out of the earth, elegantly lit with the sun coming through the trees, a few birds chirping in the background, with precious rocks surrounding the spring and naturally filtering the water that tastes so good by the time it reaches the consumer.

is it really what i picture a natural spring to be?

Natural Water Filter?

I saw a water filter system in someone’s house a few years ago that was homemade and cannot remember how they said they made it. I remember there was some shiny stones – looked like they were polished but not fancy – on the bottom of a plastic water container. She said, if memory serves, that they were using a filter for an aquarium containing carbon and chunky rocks bought at the store. They said they filled it with the tap water. The siggot was on the bottom and the used it for their coffee, ice cubes and drinking water. She said they simply changed the filter once per month and cleaned the rocks. My questions are these: has anyone ever heard of such a homemade system? If so, what type of filter is she talking about? Is the 1 x per month accurate? Is is safe to use as I have small children in my home? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

My 1-gallon betta aquarium’s water has been looking greenish-tinged and a little more opaque than water should be. I’ve had it for about 5 months and so far have just tried doing water changes – changed half the water, and that only helped just a little. There is a bit of algae growth, not what I would call really bad, and in among the rocks there is a bit of debris. Also the bubbler tube isn’t making bubbles as much as it was when I first set it up about 5 months ago. Do I need to replace the little sponge-like bubblemaker (you know the thing that hooks up to the air tube and the bubbles come out of it and rise up from under the gravel)?

My husband is FREAKING OUT about the tank because it’s not pure clear water. I’m not as concerned about it, as I think a certain amount of algae and stuff is normal, but I would like to know what may be done to get clearer-looking water if possible.
The walls of the tank do not have an algae film on them, the water just looks slightly discolored and the rocks on the bottom have some green on them.
