I have been using a stannous fluoride mouth rinse given to me by my dentist for the past month. My teeth now have very noticeable brownish yellow stains around the edges between the teeth. I’ve read that this is normal and that dentists can remove those stains during a cleaning. The problem is that my next teeth cleaning is 5 months away. Is there anything I can do now? It looks like I’m a smoker!

We are on a well for our water supply, and it is good with the exception of too much iron. We have a water softener which removes most of the excess iron, but are about to install an irrigation system for the yard and plants. We want to remove much, if not most, of the iron before it goes into the sprinklers to reduce rusty stains, clogging of the nozzles, etc, and to reduce the load on the existing water softener.

I remember seeing, 15 years ago, someone who used an external wound-fiber core type of filter, from what I remember of it. Is that still the best, where are they available, what is better, etc?

Suggestions and recommendations are greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Coach Craig

I just moved into a place that has well water and it has iron and sulfur in it. I have a water softener and a double filtration system in place but my hair is still somewhat orange from the water. The water runs clear but still stains the tubs, sinks, toilets, washer, and my hair. What do I do? I am renting and love the house!

I got this suede couch way before i had children. My mother suggested soap and water cleans it. I always have to really scrub the couch to keep it really clean. The problem is, that it is a lightish beige color and its looks very horrendous. Is there anything that i can use that will clean the stains and make it resistant to getting more in the future?

what causes well water to be blue?

Our well water comes out of the faucet blueIsh in color and leaves stains on our tubs and toilets. I am curious what would cause it. The water has been tested and it is within safety standards.

I have noticed most toothpastes contain Sodium fluoride as the main active ingredient. However, I recently had used Crest Pro Health toothpaste which contains stannous fluoride. On the tube of the Crest Pro Health it said something like, stannous fluoride may cause stains that can be removed by a dentist. I have since stopped using that toothpaste as I want to remove stains not acquire them from this stannous fluoride. Anyone know why it says that on the tube and if stannous fluoride is better or worse than sodium fluoride?

I need help removing some stains or rings left from where a Mop and Glow bottle was placed on a counter top. I now keep a baggie wrapped around the bottom so it will not cause anymore rings anywhere I put the bottle.

I like flavored water, but Flavor Splash is expensive. I don’t like Crystal Light’s artificial color (kids/stains don’t mix), and I want it to be flavored with Splenda (sucralose) rather than nutrasweet or aspartame, so how can I make something similar myself? Are there colorless, sugarfree flavor extracts available somewhere?

I have recently colored my hair and managed to make a bit of a mess and now my sink and counter top have the stain on them. I need to get these stains out, any ideas?

I have plain white counter top. I am not sure what the material is. But it is slowly picking up stains like whine and tea or scuff marks from pots and pans.

I have some coffee and makeup stains on my bathroom counter top. It is no fancy material, just generic laminate white counter top. Bleach and scouring powder did not work at all. Any suggestions?

Should we get a water softener or county water?

We have well water and it ruins all of our white clothes and stains the sinks, bathtub, etc. Would we be better off getting a water softening system or just getting county water?

The stains were caused by lawn sprinklers hitting the opposite side of the wall.

I have gone through two sports bottles because of mottling stains on the bottom that can’t be removed. They range from orange to brown. They can not be scratched off and I’ve put them through the dishwasher but nothing has an effect on them.

The only liquid that has ever been used is water from the faucet (I use a PUR filter if that matters). I carry the sports bottle with me everywhere I go so I’m always drinking out of it.

A friend joked that it could be fluoride staining the bottom and it is an interesting theory but I’m a bit concerned because I’d like to know what’s causing it.
