I don’t know if it makes a difference, but it’s tap water in Orlando, Fl.
I have Fancy gold fish, and I need two more gallons to get the rest of their tank filled. I’m king of iffy about the whole "instant mix" idea :S.
I meant to say "kind" not "king", by the way. Lol.

I have a tank that is 3 gallons with glow fish in it. I cycled the tank and the fish are doing well. The water is getting a bit mercy and I don’t have an allergy eater. It died because I don’t think their was enough for it to eat in the tank when I put it in. The tank has an under gravel filter and a standard filter I put in it. How often do I need to change the filter cartridge and water? Also when I change the water do I have to let the tank cycle again before re-adding fish or can I just put in the old filter sense it has the bacteria the water needs? Also when can i add another allege eater?
Ok Kim, you say that. and that seems crazy. Fish only need 1 gallon per inch of fish. I know that. And my glow fish are really tiny and all together make about 3 inches. They school well together and are very calm. There is no bullying. They have plenty of room. 75 gallons for 6 tiny fish. Your nuts.

Thinking of starting up a small planted aquarium and I was wondering what a good filter would be. I don’t want an internal filter ’cause it takes up too much room, no under gravel because I know that’s bad, I don’t mind a hang-on-the-back but will it create too much movement? I think an external canister filter would be ideal but it’s not a large tank and the cost quite a bit. What is the best filter for the job?

We have a 54 gallon bowfront corner fishtank with a hood and when we put in the filter, it is large because of the size of the tank, but since the tank is in a corner, it was difficult to put in the filter on the side and we ended upo having to push the hood forward slightly to get it to fit. We were wondering if we could get a less bulky filter for a low price, made for corner fish tanks. Thanks
We can’t bring the tank forward because it’s too heavy.

The instructions for my filter (10 gallon) tell me to change the filter cartridge every month. When I do this though, my water gets really cloudy. This usually gets better around a month later when it’s time to change the filter cartridge and it happens all over again!
If I have to change the cartridge, how do I keep the tank cycled?
population is 3 tetras.

Just curious. I have always used power filter that hang over the side. I have a 2 gallon that came with an undergavel filter that my betta is in and I have not needed to change the water in over a month. I’m just curious how the undergravel filter works. The tank also has about 100 ramshorn snails in it.
What are the principle in which the undergravel filter works?

Now I have fish I had a total of 20ish. I am down to two. I think it may be because I have well water. I have had fish before. I had hermit crabs in the tank before(I cleaned it treated the water and used the ick stuff before introducing the fish) and I wonder if it is because of the hermit crabs or is it from the well water. FYI i put nothing in the water besides those things and food please HELP!
I am going to buy test strips sometime today what are some other reccomended buys. And how often do you clean your tank or do you at all. FYI One of the fish I have is a algae eater and the other is a striped tiger fish.

Looking to add on to my home and researching different options. One idea I have is to go with a tank-less water heater system. The home will have three full baths, around 2700 sq ft after all is said and done. My question is would a tank-less water heater system work with our family of 6 and home?

I know that usually a tank has to be set up for three days before you can put in goldfish but how much longer than that should I wait if I accidentally added five times the amount of tap water conditioner.
I haven’t bought the fish yet

The instructions leaflet for the aquarium set-up advise me to ‘filter’ my sand before I place it in the tank. I googled on how to do this but it just came up with filters that I could buy. But I already have a filter, so does it mean to just leave the filter running on the sand for a few days beforehand or what? Help, please!

I have a tank less water heater and a water softener combo, I’ve noticed that my shower pressure gets low when a toilet gets flushed, doing dishes, or even watering the lawn. Is there anyway for me to adjust the water pressure or am I stuck with this dilemma?
