What would make the water out of my kitchen faucet smell like dirt? I suspect it could be a leak somewhere, but there’s no debris coming out with the water. Just the smell. I use a Pur filter, but even with it turned on I can still smell the dirt. I rent my house and I’m not too sure my landlord wants to be digging up water pipes.
I am on city water. And it smells like dirt, not sulphur. It’s only from the kitchen tap and nowhere else.

I bought a meter to check how much bad stuff is in the water I drink from my tap. The number it goes up to tells me there are 240 things in my water. Then I decided to buy bottled water at the store. I figured it would be better. But no, there is around 230 things in that water. I’m told to drink lots of water, so what water do I drink? I even tried the water you put in the refridgerator which is called Britta Pur water and that has around 235 things in it. Do you know what the best water is and what it is called? I even tried simply best water filter. That takes everything out of the water good and bad stuff. I heard that wasn’t good. Do you have any idea what water I should drink, if I must drink lots of water each day.

So when i leave for school in the morning i give him fresh water (from the tap) and then when i get home there’s not much difference, as if he doesn’t drink it at all. So my bro and I filled up a water bottle with filter water (using that Pur filter). When we bottle fed it he wanted more, but when i lead him to his water bowl he doesn’t want to drink. I put some of this stuff called Aquafresh in the water, it’s a breath freshener. Still, he doesn’t drink it. I think it might be that the water’s from the tap. What’s happening, how do i get him to drink?
I used the dehydration test before, he wasn’t dehydrated. Yes, he knows how to drink out of a bowl because usually after dinner or after a walk he’d run up to it and take huge laps(slowly, we made sure it he didn’t gulp air). I’ll try using bottled water. When we put ice cubes, he just fishes them out and gnaws on them and leaves them to melt on the carpet/floor.

I’m fairly certain that the hot water that comes out of the tap/shower/other plumbing is heated through gas, but what causes the water to come out cold? How is the water cooled before it comes out of the tap?
Wouldn’t the temperature of the water lines depend on the season? Like they’d be hotter in summer and colder in winter…how is that maintained at a constant temperature then?

I understand it’s pretty much just filtered poo, right? What kinds of horrible things make it through to your tap? Chlorine? Bacteria? Fecal particles? Other stuff?
And which of these things do home water filters remove?
How do those things end up in your water?

for awhile now I have made foods that have a metallic taste to them. I was blaming this on my stainless steel pots and pans but have since bought a couple non stick pans just for it to do the same thing. The dept of agriculture and the health dept both told me it was more than likely due to my water. I have well water. its clean, very good, but apparently full of metals…iron, copper, ect. They told me that while this will not hurt you, it does make your food taste funny. They also told me that I could get a water softener to take those out…We rent our home and I really don’t want to fork out 400 bucks for a softener that will have to stay here if we choose to leave. I have a 50 dollar pur water filter that fits on the tap and was wondering before i open it and install it, if it will work to remove these so that I can cook with my well water. I don’t notice the taste when i brew tea or coffee, mainly if i boil or simmer something….Right now I am using water from my mothers house to cook with. So do you think this will work? or will i be stuck forking out that money for a water softener? thanks!

I do not like the water that comes out of our faucet and we have a water softner. I’ve been buying bottled water for about a year now and I’m tired of spending the money. I’ve recently been looking at water coolers and you can get nice ones for around 100.00. I’d really like to purchase one of these but they make the Pur water coolers that you get straight from your tap instead of going to the store and filling up your jug. Does anyone know if this system really works and makes the water taste good, and in that case should I even bother and maybe just get a Pur Faucet (or other brand) attachment? I really can’t find any sites to help me compare or gather any more research. Do you have any suggestions based upon experience or any websites that may help me? I’m willing to try anything resonably priced as long as I get great quality drinking water.

I have a plastic water filter (Brita) you just fill under the tap and water collects into the jug. I clean it regularly but after a bit it still gets a sort of faint algae taste. I’m sure it can’t be good, but does anyone know about this, and have you ever heard of warnings against water filters?

How is spring water different from purified water, from tap or lakes or something?
