I am interested to know the effect of adding Calcium Citrate powder to fluoridated water from the tap; would the fluoride bond with the Calcium Citrate, thus creating Calcium Fluoride?

Fluoride is known to bond with Calcium Carbonate, thus creating Calcium Fluoride; are both forms of Calcium (Citrate as well as Carbonate) equally recognizable to Fluoride, resulting in a Calcium Fluoride bond?

Can I mix my baby's formula with SPRING water?

We usually buy gallon jugs of drinking water from Walmart which is purified (I think) or we sometimes buy the gallons jugs of Nursery Water. We have well water at home, so we don’t like to use our tap for drinking, especially for our baby:-)

I just bought a water cooler but opted not to have water delivered. The water jug I am using has a removable lid. I pour filtered water in the top from the tap. Then, I place the lid back on. The jug does not have a seal. Will this water go bad? I refill it about every two days. The water in the tubes in the cooler is probably okay but what about the water that sits in the jug? Thanks

I noticed that if I go for a long while without drinking water (like from the tap) then begin drinking it, I seem to concentrate better and think more clearly. Does water have that effect?

How do small water coolers cool water ?

I am talking about those small coolers (with red and blue tap) with hot and cold water taps used in small offices. Do these coolers entire functionality of a fridge , such as compressors, evaporators etc. ? Or these (cooling part) work on a totally different principle of cooling ?

The other day i caught my boyfriend changing (a quarter) of the water rout of his ten gallon tank with water straight from the tap. Is this amount still deadly or is it ok because it is being diluted by the other three quarters of aged water?

I live in a rural area with horrible water from our local public water source. Sometimes we even put off bathing due to very, very high chlorine and/or rust till it clears. Obviously we cannot drink this water and we pay to have a local company bring us 5 gal jugs of water so we have drinking water. I just discovered that these 5 gal jugs are coming in #7 plastic jugs which leach BPA that they are warning people about in baby bottles and etc.(i.e. anything your children drink out of)…Sooo…does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to change this? This is better than our tap (yes we have a whole house filtering system but no system can eliminate the large amounts of rust a chlorine bleach they put in the water so we cannot use a house system as an alternative ( or a PUR filter, trust me they can’t do that kind of volume) and we cannot yet afford a well even though I’d love one in the future…any ideas??? Does anyone use a company for water delievery in 5 gal jugs that doesn’t use #7 bottles with BPA in them? Thanks for any ideas!

I’m moving from southern California to Las Vegas and I have freshwater fish. Oscars and a community tank . I’ve heard that water softeners are ok to use if you use magnesium instead of salt and replace the removed minerals and adjust the ph back to neutral. Is that true, or will the fish be better off with straight untreated water from the tap?

and I would have no I idea how hard the water would be without the softener, sometimes there is a strong iron smell from the tap…

I live in a hurricane zone where flooding is natural because of a valley. It is now hurricane season. The situation in Missouri,Ohio, and some of the states that got flooded[by rivers] has heightened my awareness of the need for a water purification system.Bottled water is expensive[about for 5 gallons] and we drink 20 gallons or more easily in a week. We got a Culligan system with a pitcher but it needed filters. We never figured out how to install the under the tap Culligan[ and my brother is both intelligent and good with his hands]. I have searched the internet but I do not want to spend money on something that is advertised as the best but complex to use or expensive [needing filters every 4-6 weeks]].We need a system that will give a warning when the filter needs changing. Is there anyone who uses a ‘great’ system or who can give some suggestions? We want to be prepared for any emergency. Help!

purifying "city" water?

Im used to drinking well water straight from the tap and we get it tested every year to make sure we dont need a filter. Now Im away at college and its getting pretty old carrying those 2.5 gallon jugs from the grocery store to my dorm.. Are you able to filter city water with just those little filters (http://www.amazon.com/PUR-DS-1800Z-2-Stage-Water-Dispenser/dp/B0006MQCA4)? or do you need a whole system?

I was just reading where a study was made and they found that 40 per cent of the drinking water in bottles is right outy of the tap. Only 20 percent was actually purafied. Most is not as purafied as what is used in beer and soft drinks in bottles and cans.
I haven’t been able to figyure out if this study is actually a qualified study or not. I do have a filter and altraviolet purafier but am not sure it is as good as they clame. The water here is quite bad though.
