I’ve researched a lot on this topic and I’m torn 50/50. My doctor said its totally fine, but I’ve heard otherwise. I’ve heard that it is not PROVEN to help teeth and in fact, the side effects could be worse. Any advice moms?
The county I live in does not put flouride in their water. I only give her boiled water in her bottles, I’m crazy about all the chemicals that are put in tap water these days.
I have a flouride deficiency on my teeth, so I figured it would be a good idea to replace my regular water with nursery water to gain extra flouride. Is that a good idea? Is there more flouride than tap water in nursery water?
Its makes teeth stronger??
why not just hand out fluoride pills, or even better, provide dental care.
Why not add vitamins to the water also, like calcium which is good for the teeth.
why do they care about our teeth so much anyway?
why not let me keep my tax money and buy my own flouride?
I only want answers from people who have actually heard about this or have researched it.
I heard that flouride isn’t all that great for your teeth after all and that it can be somewhat harmful.
Thanks so much for everyones answers. That really helps
I’ve been using a flouride rinse everyday after brushing since I was little, and I’m wondering, how does it help your teeth? You’re just rinsing your mouth with the stuff for a minute, so how would it help?
My son is 15 months old and when I brush his teeth I use the little finger thing and toddler toothpaste. All the infant stuff is triple as expensive and comes with those finger brushes and I have like 100 of those around. Is there a difference between flouride free infant toothpaste and flouride free toddler toothpaste?
I figured I was paying for the Gerber name with the infant stuff, I just wanted to make sure. Thanks!
What bottled water should I buy to limit my fluoride exposure? Are they all the same?
Poland Spring?
Aquafina?
Dasani?
Store Brand Spring water?
Any other?
Hey awesome job with the criticism, look at the facts my friend it’s not good to ingest fluoride at high levels, I thinks the Nazis figured out it made the concentration camp victims into docile sheep. While fluoride is good for teeth, I’m pretty sure the only teeth are in my mouth, so I’ll put fluoride on in the form of toothpaste not in my stomach in the form of tap water. "baaaaaaaaaaaah"
i lost some density in some of my teeth do to all the sugar in coke. not a real killer situation but it would be nice to have my teeth in better shape. not that it looks bad or anything im just aiming towards better health. does mineral water help restore tooth denisty in teeth?
Is fluoride in tap water beneficial or harmful? You always hear that it’s good for the teeth, but after having watch this video, the facts just seem a little different.
Now, I know that there are plenty of things in tap water (mercury, lead, etc.) that can be filtered out with something like a PUR filter or other similar products, but from what I’ve seen, a filtration system to filter out fluoride is fairly expensive.
Artesian and spring water are good alternatives to tap water, but the only problem is all the plastic bottles that most people don’t recycle. You also have to be careful of brands that bottle tap water, like Aquafina and Dasani.
I stay away from sodas as well because the company’s use unfiltered tap water in that too.
After having watched the video provided, what is your opinion on fluoridated water?
And please, don’t answer until you’ve watched the video. Thanks.
If I add too much water, I’d afraid she won’t eat it, but if I don’t add enough, obviously it will do no good.
What’s the right amount of water to add to her food to make it moist?
I’m beginning to soften her food because she is nearly 15 years old and her teeth aren’t so good anymore.
I just asked but I guess I wanted to hear more:
Anything that has carbonation is acidic and will leach minerals from your teeth?
What about the fact that it is "mineral water"
Does the mineral content change the acidity?
Does it make a difference if the mineral water is naturally carbonated?
I am interested in knowing if the built-in water purification system on a typical refrigerator (this one being a GE model) remove the fluoride from the water?
My chemistry professor in college maintained that fluoride is a known human carcinogen and that it provides no net health benefits provided you actually take care of your teeth on your own. I am not a fan of fluoridated water as I have seen studies that show fluoride leads to all sorts of health problems.
But that aside, I am not looking for a debate about the merits of fluoride, only information about what sort of filters are needed to remove it from my water.
I feel like I’ve heard "soda’s bad for your teeth because it’s carbonated, stay away from carbonated beverages"
but I also think that the only thing I’ve read about why soda makes cavities so fast is it’s acidity and sugar content.
So what about mineral water?
Water, especially clean and pure water is something that most of us probably take for granted. In the good old days of the distant past, most people could just drink tap water without any worries of any contamination. Nowadays, it is a completely different story. Having a good water filter for your home and for your drinking water is essential, unless, of course, you buy bottled water for all of your drinking water needs.
There is plenty to be concerned about when it comes to drinking water and the contaminants found in most tap water.
There is bacteria, strains of antibiotics, fluoride, chlorine, lead and other heavy metals and sometimes benzine and other harmful materials.
When looking at various makes and models of under the counter and counter top water filters, check to see exactly what they do and do not eliminate. Some remove only the heavy metals but do not remove other toxins that require a more sophisticated method of filtration, such as reverse osmosis.
Out of all of the water filters, there are only certain ones made for home use that actually remove all of the pathogens and chemicals such as fluoride and arsenic. Many of the other filters leave these toxins in the water even after it's been filtered.
It is very important to get the best possible water filter that will provide you with truly pure drinking water with the least amount of contamination and impurities possible.
Some refrigerators have water filters that are built right into the door. Some of these work well but most do not eliminate all of the chemicals from your water.
Personally, I prefer the Gary Null brand reverse osmosis water filter.
The Gary Null Water Filter is an advanced multimedia system. It combines the unparalleled bacteria and parasite removing performance of ceramic, with the chemical reducing ability of activated carbon, blended with a lead-eliminating media. Activated carbon removes more chlorine than any other material available on the market. For those individuals who want to eliminate fluoride from their water, the Gary Null Filter also contains a fluoride removing filter.
If you really want the best water filter for your money, this is the one to get and it's not really that expensive.
It sells for around $320.00 and the filters last about one year. The replacement cost for both filters is around $160.00 or so.
If you are looking for a cheaper way to drink purer water, you can surely afford a brita water filter, which does do quite a lot of good, but does not go as far as a more expensive and more effective water purification system.
