I need to clean my clarinet’s mouthpiece. It’s incredibly gross. I’ve tried just plain water. Failure. I’ve tried toothpaste and water. That stays clean for a total of about 10 minutes. Then the white stuff is back again. Failure. I don’t have any mouthpiece cleaning stuff on hand right now. Failure. So if there is anything else I could use that works well that would be great! Thanks!

I think that it is unnecessary if the only reason they add it is for dental health. We have toothpaste and mouthwash with fluoride for a reason and we don’t swallow either of those. I think it is unhealthy and I avoid drinking it.
What do you think? Is dental health really the main concern here?

So I was brushing my teeth this morning and right when I had begun brushing I swallowed some of the toothpaste. It’s the ’3D Crest White System(with fluoride)’ and it clearly says to call poison control if more than a pea size is swallowed. The toothpaste I had swallowed was already foamy so I don’t think it could have been a pea sized worth all together. All I know is that fluoride is terrible if swallowed and that now I have a slight tummy ache. </3
any advice?
Thank you!

Why is water fluoridation still legal?

It causes cancer and osteoporosis.

Why would you be warned not to swallow it in toothpaste but swallow the same amount in 8 ounces of water? (quarter milligram)

If damage by fluoride is not disputed, why is it still legal?

Are there any steps being taken to get rid of this?

The current toothpaste I am using has 0.24% sodium fluoride in it. I didn’t have many cavities growing up. I recently discovered I now have a couple new cavities.

I have noticed most toothpastes contain Sodium fluoride as the main active ingredient. However, I recently had used Crest Pro Health toothpaste which contains stannous fluoride. On the tube of the Crest Pro Health it said something like, stannous fluoride may cause stains that can be removed by a dentist. I have since stopped using that toothpaste as I want to remove stains not acquire them from this stannous fluoride. Anyone know why it says that on the tube and if stannous fluoride is better or worse than sodium fluoride?

Do they use flouride to kill rats?

I heard that flouride kills rats and is in our drinking water and toothpaste, sometimes in too strong concentrations, is this true?
What about the rise in cancer rates today?

What’s the difference between using ACT and swishing around toothpaste in your mouth? The active ingredient is the same in toothpaste and the rinse so I don’t see the benefit.

It is very bad for you and I don’t want to have it in water, toothpaste, and whatever else it’s put in.

I have flourosis which is a condition caused by too much flouride in your water, that causes your teeth to discolor and decay. (I’m sure you can find pictures with a web search.) If it does this to your teeth (calcium) what does it do to your bones (also calcium)? It has also been shown in studies that flouride can cause many conditions, including arthritis. I have switched to non-flouride toothpaste, and despite claims that flouride whitens your teeth, my teeth are whiter now that I don’t use it. I bring this up because new parents especially need to beware of giving their children too much flouride, although it ‘probably’ is not good for any of us.
First of all, about the spelling…OOPS…I wrote this at like 4 a.m., and if you start out your whole argument by attacking me, what does that say? Secondly, it was a rural area that I grew up in, with a private well, both my sister and I have fluorosis. No one IS ‘more’ or ‘less’ susceptible to it. How can you say that normal amounts of fluoride are ‘good’ for everyone, when it has been shown to be an industrial pollutant and VERY toxic to the human body? I hope you are doing some research outside of the regular medical/dentistry channels, because if you look at who makes money from the conditions caused by fluoride, why would they tell us its bad? Now, get me straight, I’m not anti-medical or dental, I used to be a nurse, and both are very important. As to ‘mineral or bottled’ water being unhealthy for us, this is not true–its distilled water that is not good for us as it leaches beneficial minerals from your body because it has none in it.
Personally I *will not* give a substance to my children, when I have any, that has been proven in scientific studies to be extremely toxic. Having already done thorough research on this topic, as it has affected me greatly, I suggest that you do some more research on your own, perhaps written by someone who is not trapped under the medical/dental regime so badly that they are afraid to speak out for what is best for their patients, and perhaps something by a scientist who specializes in toxicology. Why would they put a warning on the tube that if more than a ‘pea-sized drop’ is swallowed, to contact a poison control center. How many ‘pea-size drops’ do we and our children swallow when drinking water? As for the specialist- been there done that- know what they said? Don’t use fluoride….
Also, your mom not drinking milk, multiple fractures and bad teeth…have you been checked for osteoporosis?

About two years ago I started not being able to find toothpaste without flouride. I don’t want flouride in my toothpaste or my city water! Does anybody even know the long term effects of flouride yet?

Should you take Mulit-Vitamins with Flouride?

Flouride has been commonly known as a mineral used in dentistry to help prevent tooth decay.

http://www.encyclopedia.com/doc/1G1-142984608.html

Flouride has even been used in water because the thought is that while drinking the water with flouride, the flouride will also help with the tooth decay.

http://www.fluoridealert.org/2007research/09.html

But know they are suggesting the use of Floride in multi vitamins for children specifically.

http://www.drdean.org/dean/body.html

What do you think? Yay or nay on Vitamin flouridation?
but flouride is a poison. I understand brushing teeth with flouride but swallowing flouride is toxic for your health, just read the back of toothpaste. How does ingested flouride not hurt you and help teeth?

My son is 15 months old and when I brush his teeth I use the little finger thing and toddler toothpaste. All the infant stuff is triple as expensive and comes with those finger brushes and I have like 100 of those around. Is there a difference between flouride free infant toothpaste and flouride free toddler toothpaste?
I figured I was paying for the Gerber name with the infant stuff, I just wanted to make sure. Thanks!
