I am looking for a home or portable water filter system that can remove radiation from drinking water. Is there such a thing?
My area has really bad water, in some cases the city water even has shown asbestos. I get water delivered but am now learning that the #7 plastic it comes in is suspect. Also its expensive.
QUESTION: what counter-top water filter system is best for removing serious contaminates like pcbs and asbestos, lead, etc. Those pitcher-filters as I understand it only improve taste and 2-3 other contaminates, which is not enough for my needs.
On doing research there are 9383838 counter-top filter systems for sale but I am kind of lost trying to find out which one is BEST at REMOVING CONTAMINATES.

I want to install a water filter system in my sink so I don’t have to go buy water all the time. Anyone know a brand that gives you drinking water that’s like or closest to bottled water? Prefer the ones you screw right onto the end of the faucet if there is one that is good, but if not, the under-sink ones will do if someone knows a good brand. Thanks
I saw this commercial on tv the other day for this water filter system that has 4 water bottles attached to it, but cant remember the name of it.
I would rather purchase an expensive high quality water filter system than a cheap,poor quality water filter that constantly needs to be replaced.Do any of you have specific experiences with the diverse water filters available in the market?(my buget it 0.00 American dollars! 
In my 10 gallon fish tank I only have 6 fancy guppies,and dont want to have to be cleaning the fish tank alot!(Once a month would be ok with me)
I had my well water tested and they recommend water softener and UV disinfection system installed?
I called a local water maintenance company and this is what they said:
Iron 0.4
Manganese 0
PH 7.5
Sulfur None
Hardness 14
etc
He said my water is very hard so I need a softener. But I told him that my main concern was more about bacteria, then he said he can install UV system too. All together over ,200 for devices and installation services and it will take a few days he says.
After some own research, I realized that water softener is different from a filter and I eventually need a water filter too for drinking water!
Anyway, I was quite surprised from what the water guy said because my neighbor just installed a whole house filter system for less than ,000 and he says his water is just great (he does test every year). So he tells me to go buy a good water filter and have a local plumber install the system for one day.
I am really confused now….should I go with a water softener, UV disinfection system, and also drinking water filter (extra)? All together it will be easily over 00.
Or can I just get away with a good water filter system like Aquasana or Whirlpool or Culligan which will be much less $, simple, and fast?
If you know about water, please let me know what would be the best!!

I have PUR water filter installed on my faucet. The previous owners left me one but then one day it broke. A small crack developed and a tiny stream of water sprayed out of it, soaking me or my kitchen counter or floor, depending on where the faucet was aimed. So I bought another, then another, and then some more after that. They usually last for about one and a half filters before cracking. Then the cracks grow. I extended the life of one purifier with some hose clamps to force the cracks closed, until new cracks developed.
Does this happen to anyone else?
Am I doing something wrong when I install these things? Or when I change filters?
Is something in my water destroying the filters?
I don’t think my water is exceptionally hard. I live just outside of Boston. Last year we broke an giant water main and had to boil water for a week. Maybe that was caused by the same secret ingredient that corrodes the plastic housing of my water filters?
Bonus question: I pay about for each new water filter system. I read on the web that I should get about 40 gallons of water per filter, so if that’s true I’m still paying less than I would for bottled water, but the web site looked like it was planted by the PUR people. Any idea how many gallons you really get per filter?
I have a home water filter, it’s a Culligan. The filters claim to last up to 500 gallons (6 mos.) of water. I can’t seem to find an inexpensive, hell I’ll even go for cheap, small water meter to monitor the number of gallons going through the filter. As of now the alarm on the water filter system just beeps when the filter is ready to be changed, but I’d like to install a visual counter. I’ll take a simple spinning counter, it doesn’t have to be digital.
The diameter of the tubing is 1/4"

im having a real hard time with this, i just found out that brita is owned by glade and pur water filter system is owned by proctor and Gamble, so does anyone know if there are any water purification systems that are owned by cruelty free companies? and i would also like to know if there are any that are vegan, cause i found out that a lot of filter,s are made with animal bones
by the way, no sacrasem, i just want an answer from someone who does pracetice the cruelty free movement and how they get around this whole thing. however, even if your not vegan but still have a non sarcastic answer that whould be cool too. just dont be a dick
Because a lady told me that is worth over one thousand dollars i think she may be lying to get money off us i want to know the price if its right or should i just get a PUR water filter system instead.

I live in Surrey BC Canada…and I really don’t know how to find out if my tap water is vegan or not. I recently read a vegan book talking about some water company might use Carbonized animal bones or bone char to filter water? I don’t know if this is true. but I want to find out does my local company use it or not? Is there anyway for me to find out?? I tried to search on google but nothing showed up.
Another unrelated questions, I heard some water contain way too much chlorine…so it’s better to have a water filter system at home…is it true?
