I live out in the country (to some extent anyway), and I have well water.

Thankfully I don’t have fluoride added to my water for that reason. However, it is quite obvious that there is alot of minerals in the water because of the white crust that forms everywhere water is.

I don’t know a lot about it, but I’m guessing this stuff isn’t good.

What are some good water filters for this?

As a visitor i have been advised to drink only bottled water while in Mexico. I don’t like to be dependent on my plastic water bottles and I would greatly appreciate advice on where to buy the cheapest solution for quality drinking water. What are the most popular water filters in the country, and do many people use them? Where can i buy them and how much do they cost?

I wanna get one of the water filters that you hook onto your sink. The thing is I want to get a really good one and one that you can move house to house… also I wanted to make sure whatever one I get has filters and parts you can buy to keep it working good ..so I dont have to buy a whole new one when the filter gets old. I know there is alot of brands so which one meets my requirements.. please helppp!

I would rather purchase an expensive high quality water filter system than a cheap,poor quality water filter that constantly needs to be replaced.Do any of you have specific experiences with the diverse water filters available in the market?(my buget it 0.00 American dollars!
In my 10 gallon fish tank I only have 6 fancy guppies,and dont want to have to be cleaning the fish tank alot!(Once a month would be ok with me)

…Does it filter out fluoride?
He does want to make sure his drinking water contains fluoride. But he is not sure what kind of filter the refrigerator uses for the drinking water. Does anyone know about this? Do most water filters allow the passage of fluoride?

I have PUR water filter installed on my faucet. The previous owners left me one but then one day it broke. A small crack developed and a tiny stream of water sprayed out of it, soaking me or my kitchen counter or floor, depending on where the faucet was aimed. So I bought another, then another, and then some more after that. They usually last for about one and a half filters before cracking. Then the cracks grow. I extended the life of one purifier with some hose clamps to force the cracks closed, until new cracks developed.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Am I doing something wrong when I install these things? Or when I change filters?

Is something in my water destroying the filters?

I don’t think my water is exceptionally hard. I live just outside of Boston. Last year we broke an giant water main and had to boil water for a week. Maybe that was caused by the same secret ingredient that corrodes the plastic housing of my water filters?

Bonus question: I pay about for each new water filter system. I read on the web that I should get about 40 gallons of water per filter, so if that’s true I’m still paying less than I would for bottled water, but the web site looked like it was planted by the PUR people. Any idea how many gallons you really get per filter?

Hey, well I have four fish;three females and one male. Ever since we got them last August 7, we have used the Pur three stage water filter that attaches to the sink as their bowl water. Know that we got a new faucet, we bought one of those water filters that goes in the bottom of the sink and has water come out of a different faucet. it is a general electric dual stage filter. Will this in any way affect my fish negatively? Thank You!!!

I have had the fridge since August 2008 and the water dispenser worked for a brief period of time, but water has not come from it in a really long time. I can occasionally get a drip or two from it if the ice dispenser is going at the exact same moment. Is this an issue with the water filter or something that I should get someone to service?

I know some websites say that Kenmore water filters are at the bottom, in the grill, but I can clearly see that mine has the water filter on the inside of the fridge, under the top.

My family and I have been using a Brita water filter and we have noticed black specks in our drinking water, even after cleaning and replacing filters. This has turned me off of water filters all together and I want to switch back to bottled water. I would however like to know if there are any water filters that have few problems and can completely filter tap water.

this issue has the ratings and such I need. I just want to ask some questions about which water filters of various types are best. I’m so tired of taking empty bottles to the store, refilling them, and bringing them back home. Mom refuses to buy a water filter w/o knowing the best kind in our price range. We rent an apartment and I don’t know if we can have a whole house system or even if we could afford one. But perhaps the kind you mount on the faucet? See, I just dunno. I have a heated pitcher thing from Braun that boils water for teas and stuff…if I boil the water, and let it cool, then put in the fridge, does it remove the harmful bacteria and stuff that water filters are designed to remove?
