I just got a nice water filter, but I am not sure if I can drink water straight from the filter. My filter connects directly to the tap water source. Someone told me that I need to boil the water before I drink it. My filter clears .5 micron particles as well as other metals and chlorine. Thanks!!!!

Is stress part of a urinary tract infection?

I have a four month old apricot pug and for the past week, she’s on an antibiotic to treat a urinary tract infection. How she got it, I have no clue. We tried changing her water source from Culligan to tap water and we also changed her food from Royal Canin to IAMS. I’m starting to think her UTI was caused from the food but I could be wrong. My vet recommended buying IAMS so we went with that.

Anyway, I went to Petco yesterday and I asked the employee if she could explain more about UTI and she said stress could be one of the factors. My pug has been settled here at home for almost two months. Maybe she’s a little stressed out that we’re trying to train her not to chew on the furniture or bite me or my other family members and perhaps we’ve stepped over her boundary just a tad. I don’t know.

My second question is that I want to train her to use the potty indoors AND outdoors but its tough to take her outside when its pretty cold first thing in the morning or when its raining (I know its going to rain as we approach the spring and summer months). What are some things you folks do to help train your puppy/dog on when to go potty outdoors? Do you train her to ring a bell or scratch some surface to let you know that she needs to go potty?

I live in a rural area with horrible water from our local public water source. Sometimes we even put off bathing due to very, very high chlorine and/or rust till it clears. Obviously we cannot drink this water and we pay to have a local company bring us 5 gal jugs of water so we have drinking water. I just discovered that these 5 gal jugs are coming in #7 plastic jugs which leach BPA that they are warning people about in baby bottles and etc.(i.e. anything your children drink out of)…Sooo…does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to change this? This is better than our tap (yes we have a whole house filtering system but no system can eliminate the large amounts of rust a chlorine bleach they put in the water so we cannot use a house system as an alternative ( or a PUR filter, trust me they can’t do that kind of volume) and we cannot yet afford a well even though I’d love one in the future…any ideas??? Does anyone use a company for water delievery in 5 gal jugs that doesn’t use #7 bottles with BPA in them? Thanks for any ideas!

The soft drink giant Pepsi has been forced to make an embarrassing admission: Its bestselling Aquafina bottled water is nothing more than tap water. Last week, Pepsi agreed to change the labels of Aquafina to indicate the water comes from a public water source. Pepsi agreed to change its label under pressure from the advocacy group Corporate Accountability International, which has been leading an increasingly successful campaign against bottled water.

The same is true of Dasani, filtered tap water, bottled and marketed by Coca-Cola; and like Aquafina exorbantly overpriced.

Temporary water filters for kitchen sink?

My university accomodation has no filtered water (i.e. with fluoride removed)… Since it is their property I can’t get a plumber to play around with the pipes and install a filter. So is there something – like a cap – that I can wrap around the tap head, to trap the added chemicals? How big would this cap be? (I will be sharing the water source with others and I don’t want a big chunk contraption hovering over the sink)

Any other tips appreciated

Our water source is deepwell and we have spring water. Spring water accumulates white minerals or substance that sticks on the kettle as we boil it. What’s the best thing to do except scratching it with steel brush. The spout is almost covered by white substance and covers the holes which flows small water when I pour it. It’s hard to clean because I have to punch it with small pointed object to eliminate or lessen it. Have you any idea?

I just started to notice the raw fish smell of the tap water in my office.
(it’s Chicago so the water source is lake Michigan). Will a filter get rid of that?

Some people in poor countries have to walk long distances for clean water, why don’t they move and live near the clean water source?

I’m looking for something that really works well. A purifier, not just a filter. Something .2 micron (or smaller) and with a built-in way to automatically chemically treat the water (iodine/chlorine etc). There are several on the market and I’m looking for other peoples experiences and opinions. Something that could be used full time for weeks at a time on long trips where your only water source is creeks and lakes and in countries with questionable tap water.

How is the best way to drink water?

I love drinking water, but I’m confused on how to drink the cleanest and most pure water.

Some people say that tap water is fine
Some people say that bottled water is best
Some people warn about drinking out of plastic bottles because the plastic leaches into food with the bottles are left in a hot delivery truck
Some people suggest buying that water faucet attachment that filters water
Some people suggest buying those special water pitchers with filers

Could someone help me determine what the safest and most clean and healthy water source is please?

Speaking for a WELL WATER source, but it shouldn’t really matter, I mean I know the "current systems" that they sell commercially do not really GO ALL THE WAY… i know that the system I am looking for wil perhapsl be expensive until it is mass produced. Anybody got any ideas. I am willing to INVEST MONEY in such a system which will produce 100% pure water no strings attached.

What kind of "system" do I need to insure PURE WATER?
Is there something electrical? What are the "realms" of ellectricity?

basics:
IMAGINE a water source that was PURE… it went thru PURIFIERS , FILTERS, UV light zappers, DISTILATION and condensers (and maybe other methods that I am unaware of)and the TAP is metered so that you can see it registers PURE.
THE ULTIMATE FILTER

SAY NO TO INVOLUNTARY ANIMAL TESTING
I do not want to just be EATING "random minerals" I want PURITY. Some of those minerals you speak of adding taste to the water woudl cause HAIR to FALL OUT or perhaps cancers. There are people who use DANGEROUS minerals for "fertilizers" and that is an issue as well…. I want CLEAN WATER and SAFE CROPS

For homebrew, I need a water source free of chlorine (or chloramine, which is chlorine+ammonia).

Will a charcoal filter out chloramine? Standard pitcher filters like Brita? What else?
