I was just curious whether or not water filters will make water taste closer to bottled water? I live in Scotland so the quality of the water is pretty much second to none, but bottled waters still taste a lot better.

I really dislike water, I don’t know if its just me being weird but I think it has a weird taste.
Yes I know most of you will be like water doesn’t have a taste but it does to me.
The problem is, I want to like it because I want to attempt to drink the recommended daily amount. At the moment all I do is drink soft drinks, with the odd drinks of milk.
I don’t want to add anything to the water, no flavorings or anything, I want it to be pure.
I think that ice cold water tastes a lot better than room temperature or warm. But I don’t like it enough to think, oh I’m thirsty I want to drink some water.
It’s pretty much ‘Oh I’m thirsty lets grab a can of coke’
I know the health benefits of water, and I want to be able to drink it because I want it. At the moment it’s me drinking it because I’m forcing myself to.
I was thinking maybe I could buy a water filter in attempt to make the water taste better.
What do you reckon?
What can I do to make it taste better and to get myself to actually want to drink it?

What are some of the best brands? Do they make the water taste better? What are your experiences with one? Where I live, we’ve been going through a super long drought, so the lake has pretty much reached the bottom where all the sediments are. It tastes horrible. So do you think it’d be a good investment? Thank you?

Unfiltered tap water can have toxins and what not that are harmful to you, not to mention make the water taste bad. But, what happens, say, when you steam cook something with that water. Do the toxins rise with the steam? Would it make any difference if I steam cook with water that was filtered?

Is there any way to make my water taste better? I mean without adding fruit like lemon to it, or something. I need to be drinking lots of water right now, because I have a UTI, but I can’t stand the taste, and I don’t want to have to depend on bottled water…
In case anyone asks, my Brita dispenser is clean, properly rinsed, and has a brand new filter in it (changed the filter last night thinking that might help; it didn’t). Also, the food in my fridge is fresh, and I have baking soda in there to absorb odor, etc.

Just would like to hear from people that have used the Brita system…
Does your water taste better?
Do you think it removes chemicals?
Stuff like that…
Thanks!

We live in an area with pretty hard water, but our house has a built-in softener that is pretty effective at removing minerals. The water is still not really drinkable, however — it’s just not tasty. We tried using a Brita filter for a while, but that actually made the water taste even saltier. So…what if we added a filtration system under the sink? Would that be effective, given that we already have a softener?

Okay, so the water in my apartment is kind of weird tasting (it’s Philadelphia water, so that may be why) and I was looking for some way to make it taste better because I do drink a lot of water but it isn’t exactly cheap to be buying bottled water every week. Would a Brita filter make the water taste better, or is it ineffective as far as removing odd flavors from water? Also, which is better the PUR filter or the Brita filter? (If filters such as these don’t work, what can I do to make the water taste better?)
Eh, I think that would only mask it. Besides, I prefer just plain ice-cold water.
I have tried making tea and hot chocolate with the water and it still tastes funky anyway, so I think I would still be able to taste it even with those packets.

I have always been curious about the Culligan man. Exactly why do people choose to put rock salt in their water? What is the purpose of it? The city water is already clean and has flouride in it.
Does the water taste different if you use the salt water method?

Now. i drink copious amounts of tea, and i was going to store more than twice a week to fill up 2 5gallon jugs of water.
So decided it would be a wise investment to buy a faucet filter.
So i did, and i got the pur stage 3, which is chrome.
It said that it reintroduces minerals. into the water to give it that spring water taste… i liked it for drinking water, but it interferes severely with the tea. it tastes almost salty at the back of my tongue…
My question is… can i fit a stage 2 filter in my chrome pur faucet filter. Second… has any one experienced this?
