I have been having this long debate forever now, and everyone that I ask sure enought i get some that say yes water has a taste, and the rest that say water taste like nothing absent of taste. What do you think.

We got a water filter a few months ago that filters all the water - even the water that comes out from the shower. It also includes water softener which helps the water taste better. However, it’s a bit white when the water comes out, and sometimes I let it run for a while so that it goes away, but now it doesn’t. My parents say that it’s normal to drink it like that because of the softener. Is it really normal though?

Whats the best way to get the best drinking water?

I do not like the water that comes out of our faucet and we have a water softner. I’ve been buying bottled water for about a year now and I’m tired of spending the money. I’ve recently been looking at water coolers and you can get nice ones for around 100.00. I’d really like to purchase one of these but they make the Pur water coolers that you get straight from your tap instead of going to the store and filling up your jug. Does anyone know if this system really works and makes the water taste good, and in that case should I even bother and maybe just get a Pur Faucet (or other brand) attachment? I really can’t find any sites to help me compare or gather any more research. Do you have any suggestions based upon experience or any websites that may help me? I’m willing to try anything resonably priced as long as I get great quality drinking water.

water softeners vs water filters?

I live in Las Vegas and of course the water here is nasty. which is better for keeping mineral deposits off my dishes/sinks/showers and make the water taste better?

What is the difference between the two?

I noticed that their tastes are different. But tap water and mineral water taste alike although people tell me that tap water isn’t good for you. I enjoy the taste of boiled water the most. What’s the difference?

I am sick of the taste of tap water and I bought a pur water filtration system and though it definitely looks more clearer, though I still get a little of that tap water taste… has anyone found one that works very well and yields water that doesn’t have a weird taste?

This is a two-chamber, under-sink, Reverse Osmosis water filtration system that is under a year old. The two water filters and the water bladder were replaced by the service agent only 3 months ago. Out of nowhere, the amount of filtered water this system generated started slowing to a crawl to where it is not very useful and we are having to buy bottled water in the interim which defeats the purpose of having a home water filtration system.

I know the filters have to be replaced periodically but we have run on previous filters for a lot longer than 3 months in the past with no interruption or slow down of water flow. Running too long on the same filter will degrade the water taste and quality, but thus far, it has never slowed the water output or flow.

Besides calling the service agent to come charge a premium and try to sell us overpriced water filters we may not need, I am availing Yahoo! Answers in hope someone may have a different idea as to what might be going on here. I’ve checked the turn valves and all seem to be in the fully open position. There is just not enough production of filtered water now. Could it be a clog? Or is this what NORMALLY happens when it is time to change the filters?

Or does it just make tap water taste better? I can’t really find info on their website. The reason I’m asking is because the tap water in my county is known for having high amounts of chlorine by-products suspected to cause miscarriage and I drink Brita-filtered tap water daily. I want to know if the Brita water is safer or if it just makes it taste better than tap. Thanks in advance!

Reverse Osmosis pure or waste water?

I just got a new RO filter, 3 stage filtration. There are two tubes where water comes out of one is faster than the other. I don’t know which one is the pure water and which one is the waste water. (ie: with an RO filter do you get more waste water or more pure water?)
Its an aquapro brand. How can i tell for sure, coz i collected and tasted both the water. The Slower one wasn’t the "water taste" i’m used to, while the faster one tasted better than tape water.

I’ve lived in Oregon most of my life and the tap water there tastes very clean and fresh, but I just moved to California and the tap water tastes very stale and almost somewhat fishy. I don’t want to have to keep buying bottled water, so would one of those (charcoal?) water-filter pitchers help the water taste more pure and good?

Trying to be more economically concerned, I’m thinking about all the plastic I’m wasting buying plastic water bottles. However, I notice an apparent taste difference between tap water and bottled water. Taste wise, I prefer bottled water but think of all the plastic and money I could be saving with using tap water? Is one healthier than the other? Which is best to use?
