convict cichlids are great starter fish!! they are hardy and come in many pattern’s. If you have a natural light tank they are beautiful!! Plus they are great parent’s if you let the egg’s hatch. They are aggressive to other kinds of fish but tolerate their own kind during spawning. They aren’t mouth breeders so you don’t have to worry about daddy getting weak during the wriggler stage. (where they don’t know how to swim) . They are extremely entertaining.
ps. Make sure you get a declorinator that won’t kill your natural bacteria
get the fish that eats poo first
gold fish are fun!! just don’t get neons with them, cuz the goldfish will eat the neons. (known from personal experiance)
you should get beta fish. they are so beautiful with a range of colors. if you get girl fish then you can as many as you want. the girl fish get along together. plus they love to chase each other so they are very lively.
beta
Beta’s are really cool and live a lot longer than tiny fish. Plus they look cool.
Can everyone please help me with my question?

Here is my shot at your question. 2 simple steps.
1) Ask the employee to direct you to the fresh water fish
2) Pick the ones that compel you to point your finger on the glass and say, " ooh soo cute, I want that one."
Oh and also beware of the fish marked as aggressive because it will just bully everyone and may even end up attacking/ killing off the others (true story).
Wow you have a nicebeginningg !! I’m really envy what kind of pool filter? I may get one to. To answer is this … what do you want? I can tell you if your going for conversationall fish go with a nice docile fish such as a Ram, Africans,or even go different with a small mouthed fish like a Gourami and with small or med schooling fish and Plants.
Rams are pretty dwarf fish and the Africans are pretty but very teritorial.
Gourami are nice peacful fish and wont eat the small schoolers.
Good luck and have fun …
Cichlids are very aggressive and extremely territorial. If you were interested, I would make sure to buy lots of plants, rocks, and a variety of hiding places. I would suggest under-stocking; if you have too many cichlids, and not enough hiding places, they will fight and kill each other. You don’t want that. However, cichlids are very active, and fun to watch! The most popular species are South African Cichlids. Before you get them, do a lot of research and ask a lot of questions. Good luck and have fun!
By the way! The rule of thumb is 1 inch (of fish) per gallon. That will answer your "how many question"
P.S
Whoever suggested putting a beta in a 29 gallon tank is dumb. Beta’s prefer very small tanks to be by themselves…how unintelligent.
Get african cichlids.
