What to eat to gain weight?
Hi, I want to hit the gym again to pack on some weight and muscle.
With my budget, I may only want to spend 0 week (max) on food. I would like to eat 5-times a day, but I may have to delay to 3 times on certain days. What types of foods should I consider?
Here is a list of things I’m considering:
Ham and Turkey deli sandwich on wheat bread? (affordable!)
Peanut butter
Scrambled Eggs
Milk
Chicken Breast? (except I do not know how to cook them)
Water (I have a Pur water filter juge)
V8 Fusion.
I’m 67" tall and weigh 146 lbs.
Ok, lets be real here. Like I said, I’m on a budget – no cakes, cookies or unnecessary stuff. I have a high metabolism, so even if I ate junk food I would still be at 140/150 lbs.
Please suggest only REAL food. I also purchased a 2lb juge of 100% Whey Protein (from Designer Whey).

Think protein – fat – carbs, in that order. You need to eat meat first, then vegetables, then fruit, and only if you have room left should you eat empty calories like bread or sweet pastries. ∠°)
Mcdonalds
Bananas help people gain weight….. seriously
If you want to gain weight, just eat McDonalds
Gain weight? Mc Donalds is the anwser
those people are mean. I’m in your shoes. I need to gain weight really bad. Protein is your main thing, but don’t overdo it on the deli meats. Keep your salt limit as low as you can, as that can just make you retain too much water. There are some natural healthy lower salt peanut butters you can use. Pur and V8 I drink too.
Stay away from insta meals like hamburger helper as it has more fat than you need while trying to build muscle. Stick with boneless skinless chicken breasts or tenderloins which are easy to cook and faster than chicken with bone. beef should be on your list as well.
check out youtube on how to stir fry chicken and beef with veggies. i found a great youtube on how to make homemade mayo. Good luck!
Eat tunafish and mix it with some boiled eggs and mayo on some delicious wheat bread and have a glass of milk with it. You’ll probably top 40 grams of protein and with some pringles chips you’ll feel pretty good about yourself.
For the chicken breast maybe you could just cook it in garlic and oil? Just chop up a lot of garlic, which shouldn’t be terribly expensive and use some oil and try not to burn the garlic while you cook it, it should be really tasty.
If you’re eating peanut butter then make sure it’s real peanut butter, not anything like Jiff or Peter Pan, because it’s crap and doesn’t really have much protein. Why not buy the Smucker’s brand, or another that is its equivalent and use that? You know the kind that has oil at the top that you have to mix up? It’s a few dollars a jar but it might last you a while.
Tuna and pork are good ideas and both very cheap. If you want to eat something a little tastier then get the albacore tuna (white), it takes a little less cat-food-like. The other stuff doesn’t sound bad at all, you just have to mix it up to make it taste a little more exciting.
You can look up chicken recipes and make those chicken breasts taste much better, and if you’re thin a little fat won’t kill you, why not spice it up with some BBQ sauce, or use lemon, or even bread crumbs?
Oatmeal isn’t really a protein source but you can have plenty of eggs and it’s cheap, so you can do that with a little bacon, or even ham, you could make an omelet, you know?
I have a fairly high metabolism but a few years ago it was way higher and I couldn’t work out on an empty stomach and after I was done I was hungry too, so I always went by Arby’s and got a roast beef sandwich, which wasn’t too expensive and wasn’t too bad for me either.
I hope that this helps!
The basic of gaining weight is equal to calories in greater than calories out. So, just eat high calories food would probably help you gain some weight in no time.
